Lactose intolerant

I am changing from Armour Thyroid to synthetic T4 and T3, due to cost and that a local Endo has agreed to this on the NHS.

However I’m super sensitive to lactose and the hospital pharmacy are dithering about finding lactose free options.

Does anyone know which brands are lactose free please?

T4 is Vencamil 100mcg only or Teva

T3 is Roma Capsules 5/10 or 20mcg or Teva 20mcg tablets

T4 - Teva and Aristo

T3 - Roma, Sigmapharm/Viatris, Strides, Teva

However, look out for mannitol in some (e.g. Teva levothyroxine and Sigmapharm/Viatris, Strides liothyronine) in case you also need to be careful with that.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.

Hi I am also super sensitive to lactose. I am currently taking Thybon 20 Henning prescribed by a private endocrinologist and was on Teva since 2019 however, over time have reacted pretty badly to mannitol. I have recently switched to Aristo however, it only comes in 100mg.

The NHS don't have Thybon Henning on their list which is annoying, though I have heard from one person that is getting it via the NHS, I'd rather like to give it a try but not keen on picking up the bill...

If you lactose intolerant your GP can justify it.

Yes the consultant is aware and marked this on the prescription
