Lactose free T3 help please
Teva brand T3 is lactose free and (relatively) readily available

Thank you, the pharmacist at the hospital basically told me that they will usually only order the cheapest generic brand. I’ve called my consultant today and he’s going to see if the pharmacy can get me something lactose free but if not I might have to go back to private prescription.
Teva, Mercury Pharma (Advanz) and Morningside healthcare 20mcg T3 are all EXACTLY same price …..£72 per 28 tablets
Thybon Henning 20mcg tablets on private prescription is lactose free
Cost £50 per 100 tablets
Thank you I paid £75 for a 3 month supply of Thybon Henning prescribed pre-Christmas when I saw my endo privately, now I have moved to his nhs clinic but he didn’t seem to know what the hospital would have available
Roseway, chemist 4 u or Smartway can supply at 50p per tablet
Prescription must specify Thybon Henning 20mcg tablets liothyronine
I'm in the same position. I had to have private prescriptions and bought my T3 off an Internet site until I could get prescriptions transferred to my GP. My GP now gives me paper T3 prescriptions that state 'lactose and acacia allergy', so I can ring round the local pharmacies and see who will give me Teva T3. This change to GP prescribing happened recently and I have yet to try Teva T3. Some people do well on it, some people don't. Thybon henning T3 is also lactose free but not licensed in UK, though prior to Brexit it was easy to obtain from a bona fide German pharmacy. 'Not licensed' merely means that the company hasn't jumped through all the expensive licensing requirements in this country, it is no reflection on the quality of the medication. MHRA starts that unlicensed liothyronine can be prescribed according to individual patient need.
Thanks I had Thybon Henning pre Christmas on a private prescription via Chemist 4U I’d rather not have to pay for it though if hospital pharmacy can get me something lacto free I’ve just called them and they are checking what they have for me - fingers crossed. I’ve only been taking the Mercury Pharma since 31.12 and within days I’m having reactions to so many things my skin is blotchy all over my arms and chest and itching like mad especially with anything containing dairy (I’m not normally complaining dairy free) so frustrating I’ve also noticed some of my joint pain seems to be returning 😩
I dont know if it applies to hospital prescriptions but my GP specifies the brand on the script so the pharmacies cant give me different brand.
Yes my pharmacy gets the Teva brand for me so always have it for me. ( England ) The gp can put it on prescription
Thanks my consultant says I can only collect his scripts from the hospital pharmacy not community chemist, I’ll call them again today and keep chasing
Yes. Teva 20 mcg liothyronine is lactose and acacia free. both hospital and local pharmacies have dispensed it for me. However I am not on a high enough dose and can't get my prescription changed as haven't been able to get an appointment with endo since September. I would seem that should I have to resort to buying it without prescription the chances of obtaining it lactose and acacia free are very small. Good luck
Can someone please tell me how u get a private t3 prescription in the UK? My nhs DR wont prescribe it?
I’m now on my second endocrinologist both seen privately, first one wouldn’t consider T3 but second one is willing to work with me to get me well and he gave me a private prescription for T3 until my referral eventually came through. I am now transferred to his nhs list. Hope this helps
