Do my blood test results indicate a Thyroid issue?

Hi and Happy New Year! I am new to the forum and looking for some advice. I recently had thyroid blood tests due to symptoms and a goitre. The results have come back but my GP said nothing can be done but I could be headed towards a thyroid issue in the future with the high Antibodies. I have been feeling terrible extremely tired, headaches, difficulty concentrating and joint pain/aches. Should I persue this further with another GP?

I have listed my results below, the blood test was taken at 1.30pm and I had eaten.

TSH 1.97 (0.35 - 5.00)

FT4 11.1 (9.0 - 21.0)

Total T3 - requested but not tested.

Thyroid Peroxidase ABs 79.6 (<6.0)

Grateful for any advice. Thanks

welcome to the forum

Yes

High thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s

Ft4 is low

But GP is only looking at TSH

Retest again including vitamins

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 as these are frequently low as direct result of hypothyroidism

Important to improve vitamin levels to optimal levels

GP should also test for coeliac disease

Thyroid testing

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Testing options and includes money off codes for private testing

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

Thanks SlowDragon for the quick reply and for all the information provided. I will read through it all and make an appointment with a different GP who I hope will look into things in more depth.

Thank you, I will request to have all these Vitamins tested which will hopefully back up the low ft4 in getting a diagnosis and I can begin to feel better.
