Thanks radd 🤗 I'm now almost 4 weeks post IV, but unfortunately it made no difference to my fatigue and paleness, but my ferritin is better than ever! Hemo ignored me, zero response
Ferritin is a storage protein for iron so this raising won’t necessarily directly impact RBC’s or the haemoglobin levels that give you oxygen/energy.
However, having improvements in one part of the whole iron picture might encourage the other iron mechanisms to work better and raise serum iron levels 🤞.
I assume as your hemo isn’t interested these results have transpired since your transfusion, which is great news as evidences iron mechansims are working well and maybe you just need to wait a bit longer to benefit from these new increased levels.
However, if these levels have been around a while and previously overlooked (and perhaps you shouldn’t have received a transfusion) then it would be worth discussing some treatment as long term excess RBC’s increases the risk of blood clots.
I also have slightly elevated RBCs, hemoglobin is in range, midrange or high, before or after infusion. My RBCs are small, my iron was under range and ferritin 37 after supplementing iron shots in liquid form (on prescription, high doses).
My clotting markers were checked and they are in range as well.
You can still receive iron IV even with good RBCs and hemoglobin (iron deficient without anemia).
I was treated with Monover, which resolves symptoms within 2-3 weeks and improves hair after a few months. My fatigue is still the same.
I just don't think iron is the holy grail for me. It could be cortisol or balance of meds.
I've just had monover for the first time after having ferrinject previously which was awful in the way of post infusion side effects. Monover has been much kinder but the the fatigue is destroying me. It's been 2 weeks so hoping for improvement soon.
