I used this lot a few years ago and it was really helpful at pin pointing the sneaky ones.... lifelabtesting.com/?raf=ref...

Do you think it's intolerance or a histamine issue which was the other thing I struggled with?

I do not think itā€™s histamine I do not have the symptoms of that..:

Iā€™m just trying to get my leaky gut health in order.. so I need to know what I should avoid..: Iā€™m following a doctor on instagram called @izabellawentzpharmd and follow a lot of her protocols she is incredible šŸ˜Œ

I followed Izabella Wentz 6 week elimination protocol in her books. I have 3, they are so helpful. I tried every supplement she mentioned too. It worked, I still restrict the main culprits and am confident in what Iā€™m doing now. My other recommendation is the book Supergut by Dr William Davies. Highly rate that one too. šŸŒ±

What do you mean by Histamine issues? Thanks

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassadorā€¢ in reply toBe_agles

For me, if I overfill my 'histamine bucket' it leads to migraine, nausea, IBS... šŸ¤¢

Example... I could eat an avocado today..... no problem... but if I had one again tomorrow it could tip me over the limit and I'd be in bed for a couple of days till it cleared my system šŸ˜³

So some foods are fine in moderation but if you combine to many high histamine or even worse histamine releasers šŸ¤¢ this is on top of avoiding dairy, nightshades, barley....

We've had a chat about it here.... Ā Ā Jaydee1507 is very knowledgeable šŸ¤— healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thank you, that is very helpful. And explains a lot about my situation. šŸ˜Š

None of the food intolerance tests re clinically validated.

The gold standard for food intolerance is an elimination diet.

In all my years of testing for many things 'food intolerance tests' are rubbish. The best food intolerance test is my own food diary. Period. It can take 3-5 days of food to pass through the gut and during this time pain can ensue at different points in the digestive cycle - liver, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, bowl and brain. You will only discover this through exclusion and inclusion. To complicate it also - the microbiome can be trained and adapt. What I was intolerant to I am now not. Other things I am still. Somethings are ok in smaller less regular doses but not in quantity. So I advise you to start a food diary and monitor what you consume and pain.

Sounds like good advice. Is your diary a narrative account or do you use a spread sheet or something special.

Its practical, terse and short so I can keep up with it. I just use notes on my phone. example. Ā£ = good. ! means bad

0720 wake

0740 feel tired, energy !

1010 kefir, vit d 2, k, niacin, querc

1200 salmon, veg, sausage

1320 bm Ā£

Thank you for this information and adviceā€¦

My problem is I do not suffer physically at all, I only suffer mentally (not sure which is worse)

I went gluten free for 3 months it did not change my mental health issues and didnā€™t notice one single differenceā€¦ I do believe dairy is an issue for me, I feel tired if I have a milkshake or ice cream šŸ¤”

I was allergic to milk when I was born where my mum had no option but to breast feed me..

I then grew out of itā€¦

Alately I notice I can not tolerate deep fried or greasy food anymore without feeling sick so I avoid that..

I also rarely have any dairy products so donā€™t think thatā€™s a problemā€¦

Iā€™m currently taking probiotics and making bone broth for help with my gut šŸ˜Œ

itā€™s interesting, I never put any belief in these but a friend recommended York as it had identified dairy intolerance and giving just this up has completely transformed their health. I did it last year and I wasnā€™t completely intolerant (red) of anything but was amber for wheat and yeast. Nothing else. I have long suspected gluten, but the test I bought also came with a one-hour call with a nutritionist, who was so worth the money! We talked in depth about my hashis etc and she recommended great probiotics which I still use everyday, and how to avoid what and yeast (but gluten isnā€™t my issue). They may not be completely validated, but my results were spot on for me!

I donā€™t know how accurate Food Intolerance testing is, but I have done two tests over the years with York Testing and the results, however much I donā€™t like them, seem to be in keeping with my own thoughts. yorktest.Com

I just had Yorktest done the test for intolerance to 200 food and drink ingredients, It's higher price compare other life lab testing as its more foods test.

Hope it helps!

Iā€™ve done York testing and bioresonance testing for food intolerances which helped in a small way but didnā€™t sort the problem completely and actually took out far more foods than was necessary. This year I decided to do something different because Iā€™m so fed up with cutting foods out of my diet so I saw an IBS functional medicine clinic (although I only had slight symptoms of IBS (main symptom palpitations) but that could be because Iā€™d taken such a lot of foods out of my diet). The biggest thing that has helped for me during this is a histamine/SIBO bi-phasic diet (which isnā€™t for too long) which helped me to reintroduce eggs, peppers, potatoes and lactose free dairy into my diet again and an all singing all dancing stool test which showed up a few things including an increased occurrence of Citrobacter freundii which can cause leaky gut and Bastocystis (not sure of spelling). The protocol builds on things gradually so the body doesnā€™t get overloaded. Iā€™m not completely finished but much improved and now have more of an idea of what contributes to my symptoms. Good luck with your quest šŸ˜Š

Hello ThyroidObsessed

Possibly not answering your question directly. I started being gluten intolerant and decided (simplistically) as a result of having Hashimotoā€™s, that my immune system was attacking my thyroid because of the antibodies it generated.

So it became my focus to try and reduce any stimulus to my immune system so it would not be always hunting down and destroying antibodies (thereby on high alert for my thyroid cells).

I therefore got Regenerus lab to test me for all or any foods that I produced antibodies toā€¦. He ho casein came up (protein in dairy, eggs) came up red, meaning high antibodies. So I stopped eating them along with gluten. A few others were amber, pumpkin seeds for example, so I donā€™t eat them very often.

I feel very good, healthy, active and I have few symptoms I can complain about.

Whether itā€™s the strict diet, who knows, but it really works for me.

As I say possibly not answering your question.

All the best and hopefully someone specifically answers your question.

Thank you I do think I will do a test I do think it may be beneficial in some ways šŸ˜Š

I recommend regenerus too. There is school of thought that the foods arenā€™t the root cause, but gut health. Once you sort that the food intolerances and histamine problems calm down.
