No one can give you a number because ranges vary. The number in one range might be low but high in another lab range.

If you mean an optimal % through a range, then optimal is individual. What’s optimal for 1 person might not be for another.

This is one of reasons why thyroid hormones are usually introduced slowly & gradually increased / adjustments until you feel well.

Many say FT4 in top third & FT3 above mid point is where they feel best.

But someone on NDT is unlikely to achieve that ratio as the T3 in the NDT pushes the T4 down. It really does need to be done on how a person feels on NDT, as I am discovering as time goes by.

I'm afraid that there are no numbers to give you. It's all so individual. Some do well on NDT and others less so.

The NDT contains both T3 and T4 and T3 tends to cause the T4 levels to drop lower than they would be if you were on just Levothyroxine.

Increases/decreases should be 1/4 grain at a time. And with NDT you probably need to play around with the time of day you take it and in how many doses.

After that it's based on how you feel.

Hello Ari:

Compared to when taking T4 monotherapy -

when optimally medicated on NDT you will likely have a low/suppressed TSH -

likely a lower T4 than when of T4 only BUT a proportionately much higher T3 reading.

Did you do bench mark readings before you started NDT and how do your new results compare and what about symptom relief ?

Have you tracked yourself on blood pressure, pulse and temperature - and have there been any changes ?

Where you feel well, they vary from person to person.

You need to take a full thyroid blood test and post the results on here. It must include TSH,

FT4, and FT3. How long have you been taking NDT and which one. It does depend on the person taking it. Some people do well and others do not.

I have no thyroid and took NDT Thyroid s for years and felt well, but only after posting my results on the site.

I took 1.2/5 grains 6am and another 1 grain at 1.30pm both well away from food.

Each person is so different some take 3 or more to feel well for others it doesn't work at all.

Not what you're looking for?
