NDT: About to transfer from t3 only to NDT .Can I... - Thyroid UK
NDT
I take it all in one go, last thing at night. Am on 3 grains. Here is a paper which explains the difference between ndt and synthetics and goes part way to explaining why. Taking in one go works...... thyroid-s.com/natural-desic...

I do the same last thing at night before sleep and they help me sleep. I take 4 altogether.
There are some people who take all in one go, and some people who split dose. What works for one won't necessarily work for another. Experimentation is the only way to find what works for you.
I did find it impossible to take thyroid meds all in one go with both NDT and T3, and I had to split into lots of small doses in the beginning. But as I got more used to the meds I managed to amalgamate my doses to some extent. I now take 2 doses of T3 per day, whereas at one time I was taking 4 or 5 tiny doses.
If you find you have to split dose then don't forget that you can have small and large doses, they don't all have to be the same size. Some people might take their entire T3 dose just before bed. Others might take the bulk of it in the morning and leave a tiny bit for bedtime.
I wish I could take all my T3 at once just for the convenience, but I've never managed it yet. I envy those who can.
To be fair when I was taking t3 I couldn't take it in one go and if I did it kept me awake all night. Like you say it's trial and error really finding what works for you.
If you have a read of this link.. thyroid-s.com/natural-desic... You will see that the hormones in ndt are bound, not free, so the effect of t3 in ndt is gradual, not a big rush like the synthetics. I cant take an entire dose of synrhetics at one go, but am fine with the ndt.

galathea I just wanted to thank you for your post and the link.
For some time now I've been wondering why I didn't tolerate even the smallest amount of Thybon Henning T3 added to Levo. It gave me awful insomnia after a few days. However, after taking Metavive iii for almost a month I've been relatively fine and started to feel less fatigued. The only booboo I've made is dose up too quickly which gave me palpitations and so now I'll probably have to start again at a lower dose.
