What TSH level is too low on NDT + low sodium

Hi All,

I switched to NDT 6 weeks ago and have been dialing in my dose. I take Erfa NDT.

I raised it up to 1 3/4 tablets, and have just tested my thyroid.

I've read a lot of discussions here about NDT and TSH and from what I understand, from this big study when TSH gets lower than 0.3, it increases the risks of osteoporosis, fracture and cardiovascular diseaseacademic.oup.com/jcem/artic...

My new TSH result was 0.017.

T4 is 47% of the range, T3 is 70% of the range.

Tested it all at 9am fasted, left over 24 hours in between doses. I supplement with B12, D, folate, iron.

So TSH looks too suppressed. Should I lower NDT to 1,5 grains?

Should I aim to see my TSH at 0.4 and not lower than that?

My BP, temperature and pulse have been fine. But I have been feeling nauseous and weird.

Since all my thyroid issues kicked in, I noticed I'm low on sodium. My recent level was 136, and the norm is 137-145.

I tested my 9am cortisol, levels came at 419 a month ago, I've read studies that say above 414 excludes adrenal insufficiency. I'm not sure if I should do further adrenal function tests with my normal cortisol levels. Also, I am abroad atm, cannot test my adrenal saliva here.

I'll be adding more salt to my diet now and drinking a bit less water. Also taking even more iron pills.

Do you know how much salt can I safely add a day to raise my levels, without causing issues?

If you know of any other tests I need to do, or supplements to take to raise my low sodium and maintain it at a healthy level, I would appreciate your advice.

Thank you, thank you!

Hey there again :

Looks like the NDT is working well - how are you feeling - as that's the most important question ?

My TSH is stuck down at 0.01 for me to be well and I'm not concerned and prefer to go with how I feel after a couple of years of being undermedicated and with ' no life ' because my TSH didn't know how to follow the guidelines and rules.

I'm with Graves post RAI thyroid ablation.

So glad to hear you dialed it in! Been not feeling great, nausea and fatigue, heart been feeling a bit tight too, a bit of anxiety. Probably could do with decreasing to 1,5 to see how that goes, at least I know I'm definitely not hypo now!

Waiting for my thyroid antibodies results to see where they are at.

Well you look to be going the right way -

What were your bench mark T3 and T4 readings ?

and where are your T3 and T4 readings now - and presume these to be around 6 - 8 weeks into taking the same daily dose of Efra ?

Not what you're looking for?
