GP medical records

Finally got round to requesting medical records, used the proforma mentioned on here and for the life of me can't remember which post it was on and who told me about it. Went and handed it in yesterday.

Also did the BlueHorizon genetic tests sent back the 21st, so a while to wait yet. Still wondering about tests for RA, and maybe PA tests saving pennies.

In other news GP surgery kept texting me saying my annual HbA1c was overdue and to go in and pick up from. I eventually called them to query this as I had it done at end of January so should be due end of January 24. Call did not end well, pleasant person answered and handed phone to the person who was messaging me. She said I was overdue for test and talked to me like a naughty child. I pointed out that the test was to be done annually and as it was done in January it was not due till next January. At this point she got louder and more high pitched, so I said well annually means yearly , she again told me , but it's overdue. She sounded quite stressed said well we have updated our systems and you now have a red prompt box flashing on your page so it says your overdue, I said but your new IT programme is not my problem , it sounds like a you problem. I think this upset her as she screamed oh my God I'm not arguing with you, I heard her saying to someone "Dawn can deal with her" and hung up on me.

Guess she won't text me anytime soon

their system is trying to get all annual reviews for patients done at around the time of their birthday now , instead of whatever random times of year they were done previously .

i'm hoping to escape the computers clutches and keep my annual review in winter even though my B'days in Aug (don't want anyone to have the opportunity to start messing with my dose in summer, no thanks).

if they ask i might have to 'be away a lot' (until christmas)

the only explanation she could give was the system now is set as April is the beginning of the year. So because they have changed system they want me to get a new blood test. I said what like tax years, she confirmed excitedly like maybe I was going to comply. When I didn't is when she lost it and put phone down. Maybe it's so they can do accounts, invoices, tax returns etc all at same time. 🤔

I haven't had NHS thyroid test since June 2022. I'm hoping they've forgotten or if they coincide it with my birthday then that's next April. I find the annual blood test malarkey very hit and miss.

I had a similar discussion with my surgery. Last year's annual bloods done in August, so why are they asking for this year's in May? Kept getting texts to book. Finally booked for July, but was unwell on the day, so rebooked for August.

Going by previous years they don't seem to do anything about the results, even when flagged as outside range, although a few years ago they thought I should do an online course because my HbA1c was a bit high. I started it, but gave up as it wasn't following the low carb, high fat approach which I prefer. Ah well!

Hivins the woman needs a chill pill. Good for you keeping your cool. It's insulting not to be listened to and treated as if you have no brain cells. She could have at least said thankyou and that she would check out the system because perhaps something had changed in the review process.
