Why did your doctor take you off levo?

What's too high??? Your FT4 is practically non-existant. How could any doctor in his right mind take you off levo with an FT4 like that? It beggars belief!

How much levo were you taking? Are you taking any T3? Because it's strange that your FT3 is nearly mid-range. You need to get back on it as soon as possible.

FT3. 3.26 pg/ml. 1.4-3.5. pg/ml

*<0.4. ng/dL. 0.70-1.48ng/dL

TSH. *0.02 uUl/mL. 0.35-4.94 uUl/mL

Difficult to understand your latest labs the way you've written them. Is it your FT4 that is <0.4? Your FT3 is almost at the top of the range, so doubtful you need it any higher. But your FT4 is really bad. You could sue that doctor for negligence - or stupidity.

These are today'sFT3 3.26pg/ml range 1.4-3.5 pg/ml

FT4*<.4 ng/dL range 0.70-1.48 ng/dL

TSH *0.02uUl/mL range 0.35-4.94 uUl/mL

I am on holiday for 5 more weeks could I try .25 of T3

I am taking 37.50mg

Looking at this should I be taking levothyroxine

Or what can I do

Thankyou

I was on 50mg levo

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMadge72

OK, so you were on 50 mcg levo and 37.5 mcg T3, is that correct?

As I said, your FT3 is at the top of the range and I doubt you need more.

You don't say how you feel. If you feel good, then stay as you are. If you don't feel good, try adding your levo back in again at 50 mcg and see if things improve.

I don't really think your doctor stopped your levo because something was too high. I think he must have done it because he considered your TSH was too low. But, he was 100% wrong to do that. It's perfect normal to have a suppressed TSH when taking T3 at the dose you take. And it doesn't matter. And stopping the levo will have zero effect on the TSH. Just goes to show you how ignorant some doctors can be!

Can I start on 50mg or 25mg for a few days

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMadge72

I thought you were only on 50 mcg anyway. That is a normal starting dose. But you can start on 25 if you wish.

Hello you helped me with my results a few weeks ago,I had a test yesterday and they have changed

FT3 *4.88. pg/ml. 1.4 - 3.5 pg/ml

FT4 0.94. ng/dL. 0.70 - 1.48 ng/dL

TSH. *<0.01 uUl/mL. 0.35- 4.94 uUl/mL

Thank you

How long were the gaps between your thyroid hormones and the blood draw? Your FT3 is suggesting that you might need to reduce your dose. But, it looks to me as if you took it too close to the blood draw. Your FT4 is very low.

Madge72 profile image
Madge72 in reply togreygoose

FT3 about 7 1/2 hrs apart

Last one 10-30pm blood test 9-15am

I am taking 75 mg FT4.....I think also to low

Maybe increase to 100 mg

Thank you

Yes, might be a good idea to reduce the T3 a tad (5 mcg) - I don't think the time gap will have affected the result very much - and a few days later increase the levo by 25 mcg. And see how you feel six weeks later.

greygoose in reply toMadge72

Doesn't sound right to me. And I'm sure there is someone somewhere who could help. But, I really don't know because I don't live in the UK.

If I were you, I would start a new post, asking just that. Explain clearly in the title what you're looking for so that those that know will see it and respond. :)

Looking at my last reading would I be ok if I ordered 125mg per day as I will have to lookElsewhere

Thanks

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMadge72

You should only increase by 25 mcg levo every six weeks, no more or it's too much of a shock to the system. :)

Oh Madge your GP is an idiot.. I know what he/she have done.... Gone purely on your TSH result which will of course be suppressed as you're on Likthyronine. You need that levo adding back in pronto. Generally I find doctors are pretty ignorant..... Is the Endo planning on mainly giving you T3?
