I had this and was given constant antibiotics even though lab results said "no infection" I found through extensive blood tests that I was low in b12 and folate ( was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia) I have been on folic acid and b12 injections for 9 months now, and found out that one of the symptoms of low b12 are urinary problems, I had become incontinent too, I have had no urinary problems for 9 months, maybe get your b12 and folate checked, good luck

In addition to Charlie's great advice you can try very high dose cranberry tablets It will not resolve a ITU but taken regularly creates an inhospitable environment in the bladder for UTI's

Worked great for me. Not needed since established on b12 jabs for a while.

I’ve read that this is not uncommon with hypo. However, after several episodes, some of which showed no sign of infection, my doc prescribed Vagirux pessary for twice a week. It’s a low dose hormone but very localised. Also an nhs app called Squeeze, for pelvic floor exercises daily. I’ve had no trouble since thank gods!

Sweet Cures do a dmannose supplement, read it up, it sweeps out bacteria on bladder lining.

Also good old sod sit. But if you have an infection, you must see doc.

Can you test your own wee with dipstick? I found that helpful but I am confident about reading the results.

Sweet Cures is excellent. Frankly doctors only hand out antibiotics which do not necessarily address the problem (particularly with reference to hypothyroidism). These situations can become chronic and a vicious circle. Sweet Cures is a non medical intervention and in my experience stopped the whole thing in its tracks. Any sign whatsoever I take a dose and it stops immediately.

I have sent an email to the company to see if they have a separate USA business and if not, if they would post to the USA from the UK. I will let you know how I get on.

If you have dip stick tests these are pretty useless. As you are in the US I don't know of a lab there. You require a proper broth test which is conducted to find out the exact type of bacteria that is causing your UTI then the lab will explain which type of Antibiotic you should be taking to get rid of it. It may take months because you have been mistreated but it will go.

Constant "apparent" UTIs can often be down to tumbling oestrogen levels - we have oestrogen receptors in our urinary system/vagina.

I'm geriatric (so low sex hormones) - I used D-Mannose powder (Waterfall brand) - it's a simple sugar mixed with warm water - it inhibits bacteria from sticking to the UT.

I found it very effective and recommended it to my even more geriatric mother who was virtually living on antibiotics - she found it beneficial as well.

Same here until I tried d-mannose, recommended on this site, and after years and years of UTIs I have been fine since May. I actually used Cysticlean for second half of the month which contains cranberry extract as well as d-mannose. However, I also think I have low B12 and have been taking B12 so that could also be part of the improvement. Best of luck!

Had 2 uti’s between December and April. Since then been using Sweetcures Waterfall D-Mannose sachets, one per day and been uti free. Not cheap but i don’t mind if it keeps it away and it seems to. Highly recommended.

Yes, I've had constant infections for many years. I'm hypo. & have had to go to hospital twice to be treated as I'm allergic to most antibiotics after taking so many over the years. UTIs have wrecked my life. I wish you well x

Hi Crystalynn, I was plagued with infections from the age of 15-26. I had near constant cystitis and infections to the point I used to wet myself if not close to a toilet and I ended up passing blood clots. I have multiple surgeries to investigate, everything always came back clear. I lived a shadow existence despite being on constant antibiotics.

I finally went to the chronic bladder infection clinic in London and they got my gp to prescribe hiprex which was a major cure for my symptoms I thought but around the same time I finally got treatment for my thyroid. My infections went away until I realised I was hypo again and have struggled to a lesser degree then before since. If there are no structural abnormalities causing it, I would bet my life it’s being hypo.

Funny this as I have been diagnosed with a UTI today second one since August. I asked doctor if there is a link with thyroid issues and she said no!! I thought this was the case.
