Test interpretation please

Hi everyone, can I have some feedback on my Blue Horizons results please?

(Off biotin for the recommended amount of time). The bloods were taken at 8:15am, my iron was ruined in the sampling, but I luckily have a couple of other NHS tests from the SAME day:

Serum Folate 10.8 ug/L [3.0 - 14.4]

Serum Ferritin 46 ug/L [10.0 - 291.0]

I also have Cortisol Saliva tests - again from The SAME day:

Cortisol (Saliva) Waking 20.30 <20.3 nmol/L

Cortisol (Saliva) Midday 5.12 1.6 - 5.6 nmol/L

Cortisol (Saliva) 2:pm 5.00 0 - 5.5 nmol/L

Cortisol (Saliva) 4pm 2.55 <6.94 nmol/L

Cortisol (Saliva) 6pm 2.29 0 - 4.5 nmol/L

Cortisol (Saliva) 10:30pm 3.92 <7.56 nmol/L

NB: On 100mg levo only, ongoing hypo symptoms (hence testing). Hashimotos, but this is the first time I have tested positive for TG as wall as TPO - not sure what that means, apart from it's probably getting worse 😕 actually I'm unfamiliar with this reference range (Blue Horizons) but in NHS terms my TPO have always previously been 1,300> kU/L (0 -60).

Been working on my iron for 2 years, very very slow progress, now on iron bisglycinate. I also supplement B12, D, zinc, Mg (also failed in this test - annoying).

I've been taking my Basal body temp for the last month. It is almost always between 36.30 - 36.80 with an average of around 36.50 irrespective of where I am in my cycle (still menstruating, not yet peri-menopausal).

Just recently got under an edo who is relatively supportive, and while my health isn't great, I'm in a better place that I have been in terms of asking for support.

Insights very welcome, thank you!

Free T4 (fT4) 20.7 pmol/L (12 - 22) 87.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 3.91 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 21.9%

Your conversion really isn't good. Have you discussed the possibility of getting some T3 added to your Levo with this Endo?

Have you tried a strictly gluten free diet yet? If not would be well worth it. It's not easy to start with but gets better.

Vitamin D should be around 100 - 150. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150. wildatlantichealth.com/vita...

Ferritin should be around 90 - 100 for best use of thyroid hormone. Suggest increasing iron rich foods in diet and eating them often. Chicken livers, pate, red meat etc

Quite a few members are doing well with this product. threearrowsnutra.com/en-uk/...

B12 just under where it needs to be although you did stop for a few days. Its usually recommended to take a B complex to help keep all the B's in balance. This B complex has all the right vitamins at a not unreasonable cost for 90 days supply(also contains folate). Once B12 is good you can stop the stand alone B12 and just continue with the B complex.

Hi, thank you for this.

I've lost the Dopiaza link for working the ratio out - so thank you for your % calculation. What kind of ratio should I be aiming for please? Or is that just a subjective thing / until symptoms disappear?

'Your conversion really isn't good. Have you discussed the possibility of getting some T3 added to your Levo with this Endo?' - Yes, although carefully - I don't want to scare him off! I had my first appointment last week, he first wants me to drop my levo from 100mcg to 75mcg for 6 - 8 weeks (which I've done) and 'see how that goes' and then, if no improvement, possibly looking at trailing combined therapy. That is where I am atm.

'Have you tried a strictly gluten free diet yet? If not would be well worth it. It's not easy to start with but gets better.' Yes, I did it for about 2 years. I didn't feel much different, although I know that doesn't mean it isn't helping. My antibodies stayed the same, but then I only had TPO, now (beck on gluten) I have TPO and TG. My endo will be doing another coeliac screen in 6-8 weeks time (blood not biopsy).

- I've bought myself a sublingual D3 & K - brill, thanks.

- I'm all over the organ meats already, plus supplementing iron bisglycinate and vit C but painfully slow progress. Will keep at it.

'B12 just under where it needs to be' - can you advise of ideal level please? My endo was happy with where it is now at 460 [145 - 569] pml/L, but I trust your judgement to be optimum.

Thank you so much!

You can find the calculator links in pinned posts. I use this one which is new. thyroid.chingkerrs.online/

The % ratio varies depending if you're just on Levo or a combination. On Levo FT4 should be in the upper top quarter and FT3 60-70%.

Good that you have discussed adding T3. Its all the more important to have optimal vitamin levels to tolerate and use that.

Many members are getting on well with this iron supplement. threearrowsnutra.com/en-uk/...

Serum B12 should be 500+ so you're almost there.
