I talked to my doctor before my lab work about possibly changing the dosage of my levothyroxine or even adding T3 because I still don't think I am optimal. She gave me a " we will see" response and said she doesn't want to mess with it too much because adding one thing can make something else wonky.
I am currently on 75 mcg levothyroxine and 1000 iu of vitamin D3 and have Hashimotos.
These are my labs results. These were taken fasting and before 9 am without a dose of medication that morning.
Free T4 1.24 range: .82-1.77
Folate 12.7 range: 3 and up
TSH 0.549 range: 0.45-4.5
Ferritin 87 range: 15-150
Free T3 2.6 range: 2.-4.4
B12 433 range: 232-1245
Alkaline Phosphate 42 range: 44-127 ( I add this because I don't really know what it is or what it impacts, but I'm low.)
The doc sent me a message stating that my labs look fine, my nodules are stable, and to increase my D3 to 2000 IU.
I still feel tired and unmotivated, and losing weight is nearly impossible. Anxiety is a little better, but not the best.
She prescribed T3 on previous visit when I was on 50mcg of levothyroxine, but I asked to just bump the dose up before adding the T3.
Do you think I would benefit from a dosage increase of levothyroxine or adding T3? Which would be better with weight issues, if any?
If so, can someone give me some guidance on how to present this to her? She seems open to change especially when I sound informed. I usually have to leave a voicemail for her and I'll put my "evidence" in the message.
Lastly, I am going to start using this spray from Amazon for D3 (NOW Supplements, Vitamin D-3 & K-2 Liposomal Spray 1,000 IU/100 mcg, Supports Bone Health*, 2-Ounce)
and I'm going to add Nutricost Alpha Lipoic Acid 600mg based on an article I read from Dr. Westin due to its possible benefits for weight control, etc.
Should I be adding or doing anything else based on these results?
As always, thank you so much for the insight. I have gone from blindly trusting my doctors to now doing my own research and realizing I know just enough to know I don't know anything lol. You all always help me make sense of it.
