I’m 73 and on 100 levothyroxine - recently had blood tests and all levels including vitamins are at optimal levels. However I have recently put on a lot of weight on my bum and stomach. On stomach it is just like a roll of fat. I’m very aware of what I eat and tried gluten free with no success. Any recommendations please.

On levothyroxine we MUST have optimal levels of vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease..
Request GP run full iron panel test to check iron and ferritin levels
Plus vitamin D, folate and B12
I have been on the Zoe Personalised Nutrition Programme and lost visceral fat. I am also reading the Glucose Goddess book. She has a similar approach to Zoe and apparently people lose belly fat using her guidance too.
Have you checked your cortisol and DHEA. I believe low cortisol and/or adrenal insufficiency is the culprit for belly fat. A good place to learn more is YouTube, just search adrenals/belly fat and see what comes up 😊
I was told the belly fat is almost impossible to lose as you get older as it is from a decrease in estrogen.
Personally I have stopped using those hair shampoos in the shower that "add body".
