Low TSH

I have just got my bloods back and have got a reading of TSH 0.07 ( range 0.27-4.2 ) and a T4 of 19.2 (range (12 -22 ) my doctor hasn`t commented yet but just flagged my result as abnormal, I have also had an abnormal reading on my serum triglyceride 0.7 (range 0.8 -2.3 ) could this be related to my Hashimotos.

I am currently taking 100mcg of Levothyroxine

Just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate, especially with Hashimoto’s

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Was test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

As you have Hashimoto’s are you on strictly gluten free and/or dairy free diet

Never adjust dose based on just TSH and Ft4

You need TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 and all four vitamins test

all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

I had the blood test early in the morning and I didnt take my Levothyroxine untill I got home, so at least 24hrs gap, I dont always get the same make of my Levothyroxine but that has never really been a problem.

I am currently taking Co-enzyme Q10, Biotin, Marine Collagen and Selinium and in the winter I take Vit.D. As to a gluten free and or diary free diet, I dont have any digestive problems, any thoughts on the serum trigyceride result

Essential to stop biotin supplements 7 days before all blood tests as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12

Post discussing how biotin can affect test results

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Will need to retest - request GP do so and include TSH, Ft4 and Ft3…….plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels

NHS unlikely to test Ft3 …..you might get vitamin tests

Any missing tests …..test privately

Low triglycerides are usually caused by low far diet, hyperthyroidism or a gut absorption problem.

Absorption cab be a problem for those with hypothyroidism, It could be you are having or have recently had a Hashi flare?

Just don’t let the GP lower you levo without checking fT3 and fT4 together well away firm any biotin you may be taking.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not on a low fat diet and eat a healthy diet so I haven't got a clue what's going on

I suspect the GP will blame it on too high levo. How out for proper testing as everyone suggests.

I haven't had any feedback yet from the doctors but then it is only Monday morning, I'm going to get a private test for my T3 as that's the only way I can see what the problem is
