TSH is a bit of a red herring. It's a message from the pituitary to your thyroid gland to tell it to work harder or not as much. I know that GPs are obsessed with it, and use it as their primary diagnostic tool, but once you are on meds it is pretty well irrelevant - because your thyroid isn't actually doing all the heavy lifting at that point - your meds are assisting.
What matters are your actual thyroid hormones - so your free T4 (63% through range) and your free T3 (56.7% through range) - and how you feel.
Your results are in the top half of range, which is good - although lots of us like it higher still (without going over-range). So if you don't feel tip-top, I'd suggest asking the GP for an extra 25 mcg of levo, to bring your free T4 and free T3 up a bit. It's unlikely they will contact you (unless it's to moan abut your TSH - because your frees are ok)
thankyou so much for the information i am tired and ratty but when the tsh goes low they drop my thyroxin ususally its very usefill your information and you are right they use tsh as a guidline for everything my problem is i find all the jargon hard to grasp and with some many variables i need to understand more than i do they never normally test t3 free or t4 i pushed for that its so hard work to get any help from doctors i have never seen and endo , and the past 3 years have been toublesome if i eat normally i put on weight so i dont eat much thank ogd for this site and people like you
If the jargon is getting you down, have a good rootle around the Thyroid UK site - and helvella 's excellent glossary - which is a "pinned post" - click on "posts" at the top of the page and then "pinned posts" - and read the posts and answers.
Either or neither. Your thyroid hormones are still rather low in range, and your TSH hasn't read the textbook that says that it should reflect that. If you still have symptoms, your thyroid hormones suggest that you might need a 25mcg increase in levo, but many GPs are obsessed with TSH and so won't do it. If you feel good, your dose is fine and shouldn't be messed with.
