low ferritin high haemoglobin

hi had my levo increased to 100mcg by cardio as it had gone up from 2.3 to 5.4. My Vit d is 57 (normal nhs range) he said a bit low and ferritin is 18 which I know is too low for me (range 11-300)but my haemoglobin was 15.7 which he said was fine actually a bit high. But I was supplementing iron (Galfer syrup) . How do you increase ferritin with out making haemoglobin too high?

Haemaglobin isn't related to iron or ferritin in that way.

If your ferritin was 18 your GP should be prescribing you iron because NICE state that a ferritin of 30 or less is deficient.

What you do need to do is get a full iron panel which GP should do to see if you need to supplement with iron. Ask your GP to do this test.

Did you get B12 and folate tested as you need optimal levels of those too.
