Blood Test Results

hello everyone, could I have your advice on my latest blood tests please. Both of which came back as normal.

I had two blood tests one done by gp surgery and one from blue horizon as wanted to check my T3 and surgery won’t check this.

both done at 9am. No Levo 24 hrs beforehand.

The blue horizon test came with an opening letter saying I may need to test my cortisol levels which I’m planning on doing as still feeling anxious.

I’d be grateful for your suggestions.

Could you repost your blood results as a reply to this post please? The Blue Horizons one are very small and blurry also, almost unreadable.

Keeping blood results together makes it easier for members to comment.

Just use the picture icon bottom centre of reply box to upload the photo.

Free T4 (fT4) 20.9 pmol/L (12 - 22) 89.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 5.36 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 61.1%

Your TSH is still above 1. What dose are you currently on? You could try a 12.5mcg dose increase. Ask GP to trial it.

Getting your vitamins to OPTIMAL is also essential and will have a good effect on how you are feeling too so super important to follow SlowDragons advice.

Ref the cortisol test, they are just saying that the blood sample you sent wasn't good enough for them to do the test properly so if you wanted to you could contact them to re run it with a new sample.

I am on 25 mgs of Levothyroxine. I am taking vitamin D ( although results say this is within range. I also take lipsomal BComplex, magnesium glycinate, vitamin C and Omega 3,6,7&9.

I’m not vegan but following a gluten & dairy free diet.

I’ll try n get an appointment with gp to discuss my dose

Think I will get my cortisol checked too.

Thanks for replying.

I have removed your BH results as it showed your name and date of birth which leaves you vulnerable to identity theft. Feel free to repost without your personal details showing or type results into a reply.

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Folate, B12 and ferritin all on low side

No vitamin D test ?

low B12

Do you have Low B12 symptoms?

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

methyl-life.com/blogs/defic...

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement and add a separate vitamin B Complex after a week or so

Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

B12 range in U.K. is too wide

Interesting that in this research B12 below 400 is considered inadequate

Low folate

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

Thorne currently difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and continue separate B12

How long have you been on only 25mcg levothyroxine

Which brand of levothyroxine?

Did you stop vitamin B complex 5-7 days before test, as it contains biotin and biotin can falsely affect test results

Look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet

Aiming for ferritin at least over 70
