Intrinsic Factor antibodies (IFab) are used to test for Pernicious Anaemia (PA). If you have a positive result, that is taken as proof of PA. But a negative IFab test does NOT prove anything.

If you have significant IFab then a standard B12 test might show a false high result.

In my view, they should at least do an IFab test now.

If you have PA, then treatment should be injections of B12 - not tablets.

I recommend you join the Pernicious Anaemia Society forum. And post there about your B12 issues/questions.

Did you ever get private blood testing done to show your FT3 that the NHS doesn't do?

See link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...
