Vdubbers, I am no expert but I would say your T4 and T3 results are very low and you need to increase your medication. GP will no doubt say your results are in range but the fact that you still have symptoms is what should be taken in to account. How you feel is the most important thing. You are not a series of numbers but a patient with symptoms.
You probably shouldn't have reduced your T3. How are your vitamins: B12, folate, Vit D, Ferritin. Low vitamins mean you cannot use your meds properly. Medichecks will do vitamins and thyroid tests from one finger prick test. Thursday is usually discount day on their site.
My vitamin levels are on my previous post. Don't know how to add here?? I'll see if I can screenshot and repost. You say to increase my meds - can you advise what increase? Thanks
Vdubbers, So your Vitamin levels look OK, Vit D best nearer 100. Your T3 has gone down, to be expected and T4 has gone up but you look to be a poor converter of T4 to T3. Are you on a Gluten free diet? It certainly helped me to cut out Gluten as I have Hashimotos, raised TPO levels. I also cut out lactose and after a while realised that the milk and cream are the worst offenders and I am OK with hard cheeses and organic yoghurt.
How long have you been on the lower dose of T3 and did you follow the correct procedure before the test. Last levo 24 hours before test and last lio (half of your daily dose 10-12 hours before test) no food or drink except water before test, preferably around 8.30 am. Take your meds after the test and wait an hour before having food, tea, coffee.
Do not be ruled by a GP who is trying to keep your TSH in range, the T4 and T3 results are the most important.
So yes I followed protocol re testing, accept had coffee half hour after meds. I was told leave half hour. But will now do 1 hour Did g/f for about 5 weeks. Didn't see much difference. Don't think it was long enough.
I'll up my vit d intake. And go back to gluten free, but strictly.
