Hi all, could I please get some advice, I’d be very grateful.
I’ve had Hashimoto’s for 13 years.
I recently had a nasty surgery which caused a long lasting UTI. I’ve just finished 6 months of antibiotics and I’m finally free of infection, however, my thyroid is seriously playing up.
I’m suddenly struggling to take my levothyroxine (75 micrograms) - it’s making me feel over medicated.
Symptoms are, shaking, heart pounding, angry, irritated, depressed and very speedy - yet exhausted, and my face is flushed. I’m gaining weight.
My T4 feels like it’s going too high and I’m going through the roof, (I’d taken 50 micrograms of levothyroxine at 7am before the midday blood draw.)
I can see I’m under medicated, but also if I had taken the extra 25 micrograms my T4 would be much higher? but I can’t push meds up without feeling like I’m going to have a stroke. My docs only take other thyroid bloods once a year so this is all I have.
Could this be a cortisol issue? Thank you in advance.

Looking back at your previous posts you have previously been on NDT, then a Levo/T3 combo. An educated guess would be that your FT3 is now too low on Levo alone.
You really need to get private bloods done to see exactly where you are at.
Are you still supplementing, if so with what?
What were your latest vitamin level blood results?
I’ll get more bloods taken privately. I’ve had a good chat with myself today and have acknowledged that I have become complacent with most of my supplements.
Yes, I’m aware of this and that’s why I didn’t take my full dose. Normally I wouldn’t take any before a morning blood draw. Also, with TSH above 5, I was struggling to get out of bed. I couldn’t have gone all morning into the afternoon without taking it. 😊
My first thought is that your body is crying out for the missing T3. I would definitely cry if someone took mine away. Is there any chance you can start taking it again? Obviously a test with FT3 in would be advisable first. But I totally get the fact you had your blood draw later in the day. Before I was educated on this forum, all my tests were done late morning or even afternoon as I couldn’t get to the docs very early and certainly not without breakfast too.
