Upping levothyroxine? - appt this afternoon

Morning lovely people,

I have finally been able to pin down a telephone appointment to speak with a doctor about my recent test results:

Medichecks TSH 4.33 (range 0.27-4.2) - 7th February

NHS blood test TSH 2.71 (range 0.3-4.8) - 17th February

I've been on 25mg levothyroxine since 5th January and I still don't feel 100%, plus I still have swelling on the right hand side of my thyroid. My digestive system has also been all over the place for the last few weeks.

The doctor who has been assigned my appointment has been reticent to be of assistance in the past, so I wondered if anyone had any advice to help me out?

I have been supplementing B12 (nature provides liquid) and Thorne basic b as my b12 and folate were low at last test. I have finally found a vitamin D supplement (better you d3 and k2 spray) I can stomach so am supplementing that too.

Thanks!

Did the NHS do an fT4 test on the 17th or just TSH ?

The lab they use refuse to test T4 or T3 if TSH is "normal"

ok , that's their loss .....they won't know your fT4 looked 'highish' on that private test ,,, so don't tell em . (otherwise they may just use it as a reason to decline your request for an increase)

This post contains the references you need to persuade a reluctant GP that increasing Levo dose is safe and even 'recommended' when TSH is 2 .7 healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

They may not go for it if fT4 is very high in range though.

GP will discount your private results with the higher TSH as not reliable. they will go off their own test from the 17th .

This post has evidence you can use to show GP's that TSH between 0.04 -0,4 has no greater risk to heart and bones than TSH 'in range' does healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....
