ignore b12 as i have been taking 5000mcg of b12 sublinguals
folate was 6.2 but the range for that test was upto 15 and not 50 on this test (as this test wasnt done by my hospital, been taking methylfolate so now its higher, but it might still need increasing? by looking at this latest range?
and was taking a small amount of iron, so my level was 80 previously.
I have been taking selenium and that could be why my tgab has come down?
Im now going to go back to docs again to see if they will help now tsh is higher? and still got high tgab?
My test was done at home at 8:45am which has been the earliest i have taken the test before, normally its a couple of hours later at the hospital etc so that may have covered up a higher tsh before now?

Hopefully these test results will prompt your GP to start you on Levo.
Dr Toft (ex president of British Thyroid Association and leading endocrinologist) wrote an article in Pulse Online magazine which says that if antibodies present then patients should be prescribed levothyroxine to nip things in the bud. Email Dionne at
tukadmin@thyroiduk.org
and ask for a copy which you can then show to your doctor. The information is in answer to question 2.
The selenium may very well have helped reduce the antibodies. Are you also gluten free?
Ferritin has increased well, you might want to drop off the iron tablets and eat liver, liver pate or black pudding every couple of weeks to maintain a decent level.
Folate could do with being higher - at least half way through range is recommended. If that was my result I would use a good B Complex, and if you go for Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B you will get a decent amount of B12 as methylcobalamin as well as 400mcg methlfolate and you would be able to drop of the sublingual methylcobalamin lozenges.
Thankyou susie, im not currently gluten free, my vit d was 45 back in may, since then i have been taking d3 (10,000) mag,k2 but havnt been tested since then. I do currently takw b6,methylfolate 800, zinc (for deficiency), cod liver oil, selenium, b5,vitamin c, b2, and of course the iron and b12 which im going to stop. Im not sure why the folate tests are so different though, because 6.2 ng/l (range upto 15)was ok ish on my old test, but now even at 12.76ng/l (range upto 50) now is low even though im now almost double the folate?
Your folate hasn't doubled. You can't take a result from one range and compare it with a test done with a different range. You go by what percentage within it's own range a result is.
Originally your folate was 6.2 (2.7-15.0) = 28%
New test shows folate 12.76 (2.91-50.0) = 21%
So your folate has actually lowered which considering you are taking 800mcg methylfolate is somewhat concerning.
If you have been taking 10,000iu D3 daily since May then you may have gone over the recommended range. Is that prescribed or do you buy your own? It's essential to test D3 twice a year when supplementing to keep within the range recommended by the Vit D Council, the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health which is 100-150nmol/L
. Once that level has been reached you find your maintenance dose by trial and error.
It is really strange that my folate hasnt changed... maybe it was because of the b12 5000mcg i was taking? Using it up instead of increasing it? I am due a vit d test and zinc any day now so i will be getting those done to see my levels
Suggest you reduce the amount of B12 supplementing and add in a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in not folic acid
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
