Currently struggling to get my thyroid and chronic Anemia under control. These issues started out after the flu jab in Nov. 2020 and worsened dramatically with the 1st Pfizer vaccine in May 21. TSH started to rise out of control doubling with each vaccine up to 9.42 and I stopped responding to my normal Levothyroxine but was having burning searing pain radiating from my right side of Thyroid gland to my right ear. Fully investigated scans, ENT etc no nodule nothing physically wrong. Levothyroxine increased up to 200mcg daily to see if it brough down the TSH right through the pain and burning has continued with the same vigour now in Feb 23 TSH .04 and I have needed my 1st ever blood transfusion as HB level just 7 and Ferritin 2. Platelets at 652. Now I have been told lower Thyroxine to 150mcg still in pain and feeling rubbish. I really don't know what was triggered by the vaccines some kind of inflammatory response but over 2 years on still can't get it sorted out. Totally fed up with the continuous burning pain and tenderness in the throat and right ear with no real solution and having to go for iron and blood transfusions to function.

On PPI and don’t eat meat

Dairy and gluten free

Levothyroxine can not work with low vitamin levels

So ferritin at just 2 was a disaster

How long since iron transfusion

Have you retested ferritin

If you don’t address the lack of iron …..then ferritin levels will drop again rapidly

On levothyroxine we need ferritin over 70 minimum, ideally over 100

That was huge drop in levothyroxine. Normally dose only ever reduced by 25mcg

What were Ft4 and Ft3 when on 200mcg levothyroxine

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

TSH, Ft4 and Ft3

Always test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Which brand of levothyroxine do you take?

Likely to need addition of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine if Ft3 is low

Email Thyroid U.K. for list of thyroid specialist endocrinologists and doctors who will prescribe T3 if clinically appropriate
