I have read the following :

Content in one 60mg tablet approximately 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3

which is pretty much the same as most NDT brands .

Thank you.

Got an Endo appointment and he is bound to ask what is in what I take!

I had to stop taking thyroid s last year after seven happy years on it. Batches from 2022 are different and do not work the same as before. I have tried several batches now and none of the TA22 work the same. Each pill should contain 38mcg T4 and 9 mcg T3. These pills are now different, colour, taste, everything about them. Some people are now taking 5 plus per day and are still feeling ill.

Have you written to them?

Yes I wrote to the manufacturer but never received a reply. I have just decided to start them again as I have 800 grains left, all from 2022. I believe that these are less potent.

I am starting with my usual dose of 2.25 grains after a blood test and will increase up to three and then test again in a few weeks time. Levo and T3 don't suit me. Good luck.

I have just seen the Endo. He is happy for me to continue with Thyroid S but also suggested I might like to try combination of T3 and T4 ! So I am going to try it for 6 weeks and have another blood test and see how I feel. 75 Levo and 15 T3 a day. I have been taking 2 grains, one Thyroid S and one TMann.

Wish me luck.

There is a table in my vade mecum which lists claimed hormone contents of various desiccated thyroid products.

helvella - Vade Mecum for Thyroid

The term vade mecum means:

1. A referential book such as a handbook or manual.

2. A useful object, constantly carried on one’s person.

Please don't get put off by the number of pages!

Nor by the fact it is targeted at people interested in thyroid issues. Much of its contents could be of use to many involved in health issues. Things like abbreviations, lists, general reference information, an Appendix of links to many useful websites.

And do keep up to date. I edit it frequently- sometimes trivially, sometimes extensively. If your copy is more than a few weeks old, please download it again. (You must download - not just view in a browser- for the Table of Contents to work.)

In particular, it is not intended that you sit and read the document. Just that you download it and know you can look things up.

If there is anything you'd like me to add, let me know.
