I posted on the forum last week querying whether stress affected our bodies whilst taking Levothyroxine and received some lovely responses and advice from our group. I just wanted to update my situation today. The main problem that was causing the stress has now resolved after nearly 9 months. I was due a blood test at the surgery on 12th December and was looking to put this off, I actually had a call from the surgery advising me that the nurse who deals with the bloods was off with covid so I didn't have the worry of cancelling, it was done for me. I can't tell you how relieved I am and can now hopefully take the time needed to get my life back together. I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to this forum and send hugs to you all.
Thank You: I posted on the forum last week... - Thyroid UK
Thank You
I dont think I would be alive if it was not for this forum. The advice, always gently given, has been brilliant, constructive and life changing.
Isn't it so sad that we are made to feel so bad if we try to take back some control of our lives :
Canceling an appointment shouldn't be so stressful.
I'm just relieved I don't go through this stupid rigmarole anymore.
It's not as though the appropriate thyroid blood tests are even run, let alone a doctor being able to offer anything else except anti depressants which again puts the onus back on the patient.
You are so right. My thyroid bloods done at the surgery are just TSH !!. If that is out of range then the Lab will include T4. That is why so many of us are paying out for private blood tests so that we are armed with all the information we need to help ourselves. Its a pity the Doctors don't spend the same amount of money on better thyroid medication and getting themselves some knowledge of thyroid problems as they do in doling out anti depressants as a cure all for everything. I would love the GP to just give me my Levo and leave me to do my own testing and sort out my own dose instead of being told every year that my TSH is under range so I am over medicated even though T4 is well within range. It's like flippin Groundhog day. Hope you are well pennyannie.
I'm ok thank you -
it's so very cold isn't it -
I'm sure we are all with extra socks and layers on during this cold snap -
Last time i looked , around 4 years ago, each individual blood test analysis cost the NHS just under £1 -
2 media slogans come to mind - ' every little helps ' and ' you're worth it ' !!
Or not ?
It's positively baltic - bbrrrr. Even the dog doesn't stay outside a minute longer than he needs too. Yes we are all wrapped up like the Michelin Man !!. Gosh, not much to spend on us for full blood tests is it? I think the slogan " you're worth it" seems to fade even more the older I get ?? I know the NHS is failing in so many ways but it seems that with this disease we appear to be near the bottom of the pile, if they ignore us or try to make us believe they know what they're talking about we'll go away? I'm pleased to hear you are ok.
Hello 👋Yes I definitely do think stress affect our body. Taking levothyroxine 100mg. I don't feel the same coping with any sort of stress 😬 Does anyone else feel that horrible feeling inside them when you get stressed. I didn't ever feel like this before taking levothyroxine tablets. Nobody understand you. Unless you have thyroid.
Hello there. Yes, that was my original post. I too take 100mcg Levo and have been under stress for nearly 9 months, I was feeling quite unwell and asked the question on the forum. The members who replied all agreed that stress does have an affect on us thyroid sufferers. I too never had the same reaction to stress before taking this medication. Fortunately we can talk to members on this forum and receive some wonderful help and advice. Your right, nobody understands unless they are in the same boat as we are.
