I had the Dutch cortisol test done. Results were a worry. Basically my HPA-AXIS needs support due to high levels of nightime free cortisol and cortisone. My DHEA-S is low in range too. Spoke to my doctor who wasn't bloody interested as usual so resorted to Google. From your previous recommendations regarding my thyroid and vitamins I seem to be doing the right things regarding supplements and diet.I have asked for HRT as my estrogen is very low so am getting patches for estrogen and progesterone. I'm concerned about what these will do about my thyroid levels but I Will do regular blood tests.
Due to high levels of severe anxiety my adrenals seem to be knackered.
I'm still trying to source my T3 but my head's so stressed with what's going on I'm just slowing down with all of this.
Sorry to go around the houses but does anyone feel if I start T3 it could solve some of these issues?
I know it's a long shot but it's been going on for too long now and I'm totally exhausted from it all. My doctors have put everything down to anxiety so they just aren't interested in me now. Don't blame them really as this all started when my gastritis got bad. It messed up my thyroid, my mental health and everything else in my body.
Thanks for letting me vent. My poor partner has had this daily for months ๐.
I blooming hate my thyroid now lol.

The addition of only 7.5mcg t3 liothyronine to my usual dose of 100mcg levo is giving me my life back. The anxiety has gone. My adrenals were worn out .It wasn't a quick fix. Things slowly improved and continue to improve. Because I had been ill and wrongly medicated for so long it will take a long time for my body to readapt but I am no longer housebound and I have a life.
Oh this has made me feel so much more positive, thankyou. I was under huge stress for months prior to gastritis and then my thyroid results went haywire for a while. I have hypo due to RAI years ago. I've done so many tests recently to get to the bottom of all this. I knew it want normal anxiety as I've suffered for years and this does not compare. I'm still housebound because my body is so weak due to high cortisol. I've been on diazepam, SSRIs, counselling etc etc for months now but there was no improvement. Just having a shower exhausts me for hours. I am hoping that vitamins ,T3 and healthy diet will aid my recovery. If I hadn't paid for private tests to be done I don't know what would happen long term. I am doing regular thyroid tests from now on and if it hadn't been for this forum I'm not sure how I would have coped. I realise now it's going to be a long journey to get back to health. I do hope you continue to improve in your own health.
Thank you. I had RAI in 2015. It has been 2.5 years since I added t3. I feel my thyroid hormone levels are good now but that the other systems still have to adapt to the change. Wishing you well
You sound just like me only 4 months ago, dare I say I feel pretty darned good atm!
If you follow the great advice on here as I did (not necessarily in the right order ๐) you might find you start to improve quite rapidly.
There is nothing to fear, what you are doing is replacing the natural things you are lacking in (you used to have them)... which seems an alien idea to Dr's who prefer pills for each separate issue with horrible side effects
Just take it steady and listen to your body, you've got the blood tests to guide you.
Your body is massively stressed at the moment as it is desperately trying to cope on starvation rations of everything.
HRT is a fabulous addition which you know you are lacking and essential for your future health, you just need to balance it out with your increased metabolism that correct T3/T4 levels will bring. So don't be surprised that you may need to up things as you come back to life ๐๐ค
I felt like that old ignored house plant all droopy and shrivelled but with a bit of replenishment and nurture you can bloom again ๐ผ
