Thyroid issues globally are being ignored by the medical profession, except for Sarah Myhill and Jannie Bowthorpe's 'Stop the thyroid madness'.

Generics are unstable, making us unstable. NDT is not discussed or approved of by the powerful pharmaceutical corporates. It collects the vulnerable and continues to rake in immoral profits for unregulated drugs.

Santolina 'Thyroid issues globally are being ignored by the medical profession, except for Sarah Myhill and Jannie Bowthorpe's'

For clarity, Dr Myhill is a genuinely UK medically qualified practitioner. Janie Bowthorpe is not.

Dr Myhills website is here drmyhill.co.uk/ I don't see any book on thyroid listed on her site. Can you give us more information please.

Santolina, 'Generics are unstable, making us unstable.'

I don't know where in the world you reside (perhaps add that into your profile), but here in the UK, levothyroxine and liothyronine have to conform to strict regulations (MHRA). So 'instability' of thyroid medications is not usually an issue here.

the pharmacists association has been flagging unstable generics for decades. Levothyroxine is one of five that fall into this category. It's all part & parcel of the unfortunate erosion of infrastructure that benefits the corporates.

Which pharmacists association are you referring to? UK? USA?

UK

Did you mean this one?

The NPA

The National Pharmacy Association is the representative voice of independent community pharmacies across the UK and a leading provider of services to the entire sector.

I don't know - I just assumed there was just one. Also, this was verified by two medical journalists, one out of Brussels and one based in London. It appears that some of their findings that were accessible two years ago, has disappeared ... somewhere.

' flagging unstable generics for decades. Levothyroxine is one of five that fall into this category.'

In which case, please provide a direct link to this. It's important to validate such information, so that you don't appear to be spreading unsubstantiated gossip.

These days, we don't have 'generics' of levothyroxine in the UK. All are branded and under strict MHRA scrutiny.

yes, you're quite right & I just did a search and the link is missing. It was there two years ago ...

Please would you explain exactly what you mean by "Generics are unstable"?

The most significant NDT, Armour Thyroid, is made by one of the largest pharmaceutical giants - Allergan. Who are in turn owned by the even bigger AbbVie (since 2020).

Santolina profile image
Santolina in reply tohelvella

Armour is the ONLY one that's stable. When they have a manufacturing hiccup, they withdraw and re-configure.

You said:

NDT is not discussed or approved of by the powerful pharmaceutical corporates.

It seems a little odd to claim that and then say that Armour Thyroid is stable because its manufacturer, a powerful pharmaceutical corporate does very much the right thing when there is a hiccup. It clearly must be discussed, manufactured, marketed.

I didn't say that.

Your original post included:

Or am I misinterpreting what you didn't say?

that's shocking - it's not what I wrote. Could it be that predictive text has over-ridden and I didn't notice ?! if so, that's shocking. So ... natural dessicated thyroxine - of which Armour is the main manufacturer - is the only one that worked for me. We can't get it in Europe and I won't buy from the Far East as I don't trust the chain of verification. I now supplement the bog-standard levothryoxine with Metavive - a glandular. With trial and error, this works well. But it did take six months to get the balance/dosage right. Frequent blood tests.

'Could it be that predictive text has over-ridden and I didn't notice ?'

Personally, I've never seen predictive text substitute whole paragraphs like that. Usually it's a single word or very short phrase that gets substituted.

yes, I agree. odd
