Been very hard to find a suitable multi-vit

I have been here long enough now to realise that I need only very select vits/mins in high quality and the right doses and absolutely do not need a ton of stuff that ordinarily gets put into the std packages eg iodine / iron/E/A/boron /B plus the rest etc etc

But as I try to save packaging and costs I have been waiting for a firm to combine the bare essentials I need - well this week I found it:

Selenium 100

Zinc 10

Vit D 2000iu

Vit C-300

So all I need to do is add this to my daily magnesium glycinate and I am down to 2 pills a day.

I am lucky I guess the Vit D level seems to work fine and a package like this won’t work if you need more - but good that some firms are offering a little more flexibility these days

Well, does it also have vit K2-MK7? Because you need that if you're taking vit D.

And make sure you don't take the magnesium with this multi because it will block the absorption of the zinc.

Thanks - I thought I was nearly there now :)

But you raise something I had not thought of - can you give any more detail about why the magnesium restricts the zinc as I had not heard that before ?

Also, how much more beneficial is K2 as I have always bought D on its own to date

Many thanks

I really cannot tell you how magnesium blocks the absorption of zinc, but there are many things that block absorption of other things, like iron and all vitamins.

The reason for taking vit K2 with vit D is that taking vit D increases the absorption of calcium from food, and vit K2 makes sure the extra calcium goes into the teeth and bones, and doesn't build up in the soft tissues and arteries, causing problems.

That supplement contains iron which will prevent you absorbing all the other ingredients. A good reason why multivitamins aren't recommended here.

I was going to say something about that but I kept my powder dry for once !

Even a very lose dose of D3 seems to really help even without K2 - but great if I can find this for my next purchase
