I have been struggling to address this problem for a few years now. During an initial consultation my doctor mentioned that wholegrains blocked the absorption of Zinc. I gave up wholemeal bread etc for a while and did not see a difference so included it in my diet again. Recently I wondered if I had tried for long enough so am having a prolonged abstinence from whole grains. My question is - does porridge come in the same category as whole wheat? A recent article I saw mentioned that oats have Zinc in them? I have given them up for several weeks if not months now. Symptoms are still evident. I still take prescription Zinc supplements - Solvazinc 45 mg twice daily. This dose is down from the four times daily I have been on for some time.
On advice from here I had my copper levels tested and they are slightly elevated. Whether this is cause or effect I have no idea!

Angela talked about the benefits of the paleo diet but also the importance of healing leaky gut which is common in thyroid conditions particularly autoimmune conditions. She said the healing of the leaky gut needs to come first as we can’t absorb treatments/supplements without it. We basically make very expensive pee.
That really resonated with me, hope it’s some help. 🦋💚🦋
