Are you taking a high dose, mandy? I have not had a problem with zinc that I can recall.

It's been a while since I have read about zinc supplementation but I know there are cautions about the dose and I am certain 50 is too high. I'll try to find a source. Is there a reason you chose to do that?

wow stress and infection is my life

been severely stressed since being diagnosed hypo 2 years ago

i have hidradenitis which is autoimmune skin boils

i brought wormwood a while ago as someone suggested parasites so will start taking that again as much as it makes me gag, not sure what to do about the stress though as it gets worse this time of year as its mum and dads anniversaries in september

my glucose levels are alevated but seem to higher and lower with my TSH

i hardly ever eat during the day

Mandy, you MUST eat. Fasting during the day will make your body think you are starving and really conserve calories. But, you are seeing how you have to look holistically at any hormonal condition.

Mandy, there are relaxation techniques which if used every day can help calm that "fight or flight" feeling that you get stuck in.

Keeping glucose levels on an even keel is important so high glycemic foods like sugar and starches and are not good. I really think that is where many of us have gone wrong and affects diabetes, as well.

Are your boils infected sebaceous cysts? If so, omega 3 can be effective as it will thin secretions so they do not plug pores.

Mandy, I'm sure your parents would not want to feel that they are causing you sadness. They would prefer you are restoring your health I am sure.

I just googled this but I had the thought that 20 mgs. was as high as one should take.

The Food Standards Agency and the Department of Health in the UK advise that intake of zinc should not exceed 25 mg per day

I can understand the confusion. I just wish there were enough people like Dr. Clark and Dr. Bergman who could sort everything out. As you can see, there are many issues involved with high cortisol. Do you know if you have a zinc deficiency? If you don't, perhaps just dropping down the dose since there is also that copper issue. I get as frustrated as you are and it isn't right to have to make these decisions on our own.

im looking into smaller capsules to use and maybe just take once a day and hope holy basil works

50mg is a lot as we all individuals and one can have poisoning symptoms even on low dosage. It does not mean you are taking too much which could lead to poisoning.

I take 15 mg last thing after my night snack.

I was advised to take it on an empty stomach and I do without any problems.

Mandy, if cortisol was high when your TSH was high it's possible it will be lower now your TSH is coming down and you may need lower doses of the supplements you were using to reduce cortisol.

Hi, I go to a Naturopathic Doctor (who is also a qualified medical Dr.) I take 30mg of zinc after supper, every other day. I just halve a 60mg tablet. Hope this helps. Has never given me stomach cramps.
