Hi just an update from the other day,I had posted about my daughter havi low ferritin of 11. She has just let me know her ferritin is now 52😲can't quite believe it. She's going to get D checked and ask which blood tests she's had.She was only taking the Iron Protein Plus (life extension) so these iron supplements must have worked, after previously not tolerated prescription iron. Just shows if you get the right supplement what it can do

Inability to tolerate the usual prescribed iron medicines results in so many people not taking them. Or at least, not taking them consistently enough to have the required effect.

I see that product is based on Iron Protein Succinylate. Not entirely clear what that means but it isn't ferrous sulfate.

Also, the critical mistake most of the medical establishment makes is to stop supplementing once an acceptable test level has been achieved. That is madness. If the person's diet had been providing enough iron, they would most likely never have become deficient. Therefore it is important to change diet (so there is enough), addresses any other causes, and continue taking some - possibly indefinitely. (Though you might find a lower dose is acceptable once levels have recover.)
