I have been struggling to tolerate T3 containing medication for 2 years (tried all variations). I recently found I have low cortisol (saliva test) results are:
Morning: 11 (6-21)
Noon: 3.35 (1.5-7.6)
Afternoon: 1.86 (0-5.5)
10pm: >2 (<1.5)
* B12, B9, iron & Vit D were all optimal as of November 2021 but I am rechecking them this week*
According to Dr Peatfield’s book The thyroid and how to keep it healthy, adrenal support is essential before thyroid hormone supplementation, and I think this might be why I can’t tolerate T3. I have done CT3M to no effect. I now want to try adrenal glandulars.
So, to my Q! Is there a guide for how I go about working out how much glandular I need and when I need it?
I used to take the ones as recommended in Dr P's book which I just read that you are enjoying reading.
They are not available any longer due to new import restrictions but there are several brands available and generally sold as an OTC ' supplement ' and a recommended dose is generally found in the small print.
I have never had a saliva test nor know how to read the above results.
But I am unsure how to take them, or what my results would suggest about when to take them and how much I should take, the book gives vague indication of how to start but wondered if anyone in the forum had more specific or lived experience to give advice.
I think these one's are suggested by Dr S Myhill - maybe there is information on her website if there is nothing on this website or product when you receive you order.
Yes her clinic is shut 😩 she is also the director of my college where I am training to be a naturopath - I may email her and see if she’ll give me off record advice. Thanks!
I am no expert on Adrenavive, however it may be wise to start on Adrenavive 1 as opposed to 3 and build up slowly, is there some reason you are starting on Adrenavive 3. I say this because my partner was started on Adrenavive 1 by a Naturopath and slowly increased to. 4 tabs a day, I asked him if we then progress on to the stronger ones and he said not necessarily. I don’t know if he is correct though.
Licrorice root will increase cortisol, but only take for 4-6 weeks max and don't take it if your blood pressure is high. If you get (more) fluid retention, supplement with Potassium to help balance this out while on it. Take 1-2 tablets a day breakfast and lunch - not too late.
