Hi

Has anyone had bad side effects to thornes adrenal cortex bovine 50mg

I have just started to try it past few days with a new hypoallergenic ndt just 1 capsule in the morning with 2 NDT 1 pill am and pm.

Today I tried a T3 5mg at lunch to see how I felt as I felt really strange and exhausted to see if it perked me up but still feel like totally out of it feeling

Very spaced out and hard to concentrate felt all puffy in my face and around my eyes lids, bad aches and pains esp in my knees and swollen and general feel like hypo flare up and strange sensations in my chest like fluttering heart and palps and bad anxiety symptoms and felt hypersensitivity to everything in environment and really bad twitching in my face and eyelids ? Like my nervous system has gone hyper sensitive!

I wondering If I cant tolerate it as I did the salvia test a few years ago and it was high cortisol so I was looking to try balance them but whenever I have tried an Andrenal supplement in the past I can't find one I can tolerate and it seems to send me in over drive it's weird, any advice would be appreciated!

if you have high cortisol why are you taking adrenal cortex? Shouldn’t you be taking an adrenal adaptogen (herbal) to reduce cortisol. I thought adrenal cortex was for increasing cortisol. Hopefully others who know more will answer soon and suggest an adaptogen.

O right I thought it helped balance them regardless maybe that's why Iav felt so ill. I have tried ashwagandha before in loads of different complexes but I thought I was sensitive to it as you can be with hashimotos so not sure what else to try

I don’t have the knowledge to advise you but if you search posts in this forum for high cortisol and/or adaptogens you will see other people’s experiences of which herbs reduced cortisol and which stimulates it. I think it differs between people so you may need to try different herbs separately rather than in a compound so that you know what is doing what.

I’m taking liquorice tincture because it reduces cortisol to cortisone conversion and so leaves more active cortisol available. I need that. You want the opposite effect so you wouldn’t choose an adaptogen with liquorice in it.
