Im on levothyroxine, zoloft, vitamin D. I was taking magnesium oxide and it seemed to help my depression and sleeping issues but worsens my dry mouth so much. I cant sacrifice my oral health as In worried about my gum and teeth health now. Has magnesium affected anyone like this? Maybe I could try another form of magnesium like glycinate. Im not undermedicated with levo. If anything Im over. B12 is low normal. It was like 445. 230 is like the cutoff for deficient. No folate results. Ferritin very high...just got diagnosed with genetic hemochromatosis. I order methyl b12 and methyl folate to see if it will help. Seems to help a lot of people with anxiety and depression and thats my biggest issue. Been dealing with crippling anxiety and depression for the last 20 years. Finally feel like Im seeing the light now but still some missing puzzle pieces...Any thoughts on this are appreciated. I know its disorganized lol. But thats just my brain...I know dry mouth is a symptom of zoloft. Cant come off it totally yet until i feel more improvement. I have been able to decrease it by 50 mg with the help of vitamin D.

You should test B12 and folate levels before starting on supplements
Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease, also called Hashimoto’s usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Thanks for the link, that was helpful. I am not diagnosed with hashimotos. Ive been gluten free for a few years. I get bad symptoms if I eat anything with gluten, my sleep is very disturbed with awful nightmares and very depressed the next day...I did get a celiac test a few years ago but my doctor didnt warn me that I needed to be on gluten so it was useless.

You have Pernicious Anaemia - autoimmune
Having one autoimmune disease makes others more likely
About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high TPO and/or high TG antibodies
GP tested for coeliac…so also suggests autoimmune thyroid disease
Suggest you get FULL thyroid test including thyroid antibodies done

U.K. medics aren’t generally interested in what the cause, so often don’t test antibodies
But as the patient you need to know.
hello, I can only say from personal experience and trying just about every combination of magnesium available (oxide, chloride spray etc) that glycinate worked better than all of them and have never looked back. I do wonder if part of the issue is linked to hydration, I had a dry mouth yesterday morning and drank 2 pints of water and immediately felt fine. Just some personal thoughts really but I do notice now if I miss taking the magnesium - it seems to work much better with selenium and zinc - but don’t take any other minerals at the moment. Wishing you good luck!
Magnesium oxide is the least easily absorbed form of magnesium. You should chose your magnesium according to what you want it to do:
Magnesium citrate: mild laxative, best for constipation.
Magnesium taurate: best for cardiovascular health.
Magnesium malate: best for fatigue – helps make ATP energy.
Magnesium glycinate: most bioavailable and absorbable form, non-laxative.
Magnesium chloride: for detoxing the cells and tissues, aids kidney function and can boost a sluggish metabolism.
Magnesium carbonate: good for people suffering with indigestion and acid reflux as it contains antacid properties.
Worst forms of magnesium: oxide, sulphate, glutamate and aspartate.
I take 375mg Magnesium Hydroxide by Vitabiotics. No lactose or yeast, gluten free, vegan and have no problems with it. How can this be identified as one of the “worst forms” please.
For how long do you take Zoloft and how many hours after hormone administration? As far as I know SSRI it affects the conversion of hormones and weight. Maybe you need T3.
