liothyronine gluten and lactose free

hi, I’ve been doing really well on T3 only. I’ve been taking cytomel and sigma pharma which have been working really well and I finally feel well again :) Unfortunately it’s now impossible to get hold of cytomel due to shortages. I’m currently taking Tiromel but feel crap due to the lactose fillers. Any recommendations please for a T3 that doesn’t have lactose or gluten please? Many thanks

The opinions you cite refer to Teva levothyroxine, which contains the excipients mannitol and acacia that can cause a reaction in those people who are sensitive to them. These fillers are not used in the manufacture of Teva T3 medication. The vast majority of UK meds, including levo and T3 are fortunately gluten-free, and can be checked via Coeliac UK if you are unsure.

Just curious about not splitting capsules. Is this specific to thyroid/does manufacturer tell you not to? I re-capsule most of my capsuled supplements and divide them as wanted. Buying empty ones is not a problem. (I'm not on thyroid meds). Cheers

Only about 1% of ingredients in a tablet or capsule is active thyroid hormone….so it possibly wouldn’t be accurate

Mcg is 1 millionth of a gram

Good grief, I didn't realise it was that little. No wonder so many have problems with the fillers. Really makes me not want to attempt hormones. But if you were using the whole contents, just split into two, is it so vital to be exactly even? The healthy thyroid varies in output doesn't it and I can't imagine that tablets or capsules are absolutely without variation. I suppose if it was the only one you could tolerate you'd just have to try it. Thanks.
