Possible under active thyroid?

Hello,

I posted some recent private blood test results elsewhere for a b12 query and someone commented to suggest I keep an eye on thyroid as it’s veering towards under active. Could someone please help me understand if this is right? My results (with reference ranges) are:

TSH : 2.64 (0.27-4.2)

Free T3 : 4.11 (3.1-6.8)

Free Thyroxine : 15.1 (12-22)

I had some immunity tests done last November and the extra results were:

Thyroglobulin antibodies : 13 (0-115)

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies 11.2 (0-34)

For reference I am 48 year old female !

Many thanks

Hi and welcome Can you tell us what time of day your blood test was? Had you taken any supplements, meds or meals beforehand? Good luck with the B12, upping my levels has helped me loads 🦋💚🦋

Hello 👋🏻 It was taken at 08:50No supplements at all.

I’d been taking Vit d3/k2 for about 8 months but had stopped about a month or so before (left them at home when on holiday!!)

Took a b complex last October for a few weeks but had side effects.

From Jan to July 21 was taking b12 sublingual (1000mcg) as well as d3/k2/magnesium on advice from a chiropractor. I stopped all as a bit of an experiment really. Had also lost loads of weight without trying which is a bit worrying (went from 73kg to 62) which I put back on as soon as came off supplements. Weight stayed put when restarted the d/k2 so susoectvthe b12 did something to my metabolism!!!

You need to test vitamin D twice year when supplementing

NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £29 via

vitamindtest.org.uk

Suggest you Test folate, ferritin and B12 as well

Ask GP to test iron and ferritin, B12 and folate and test oestrogen and progesterone for menopause

Thank you for reply.

Vit d is currently 102 mol. When I started supplementing in Jan 2021 it was 52.

Here are results for some of tests you’ve mentioned (test taken on 25 jul this year)

Folate 6.47 (> 3.89)

Active b12 : 88.8

Ferritin : 107 (13-150)

Iron : 22.4 (5.8-34.5)

TIBC : 48.4 ( 45-81)

UIBC : 26 (24.2-70.1)

Transferrin saturin: 46.3 (20-50)

Magnesium serum : 1.0 (0.7-1.0)

FSH: 4.8 ( 3.5-12.5)

LH : 15.7 ( 2.4-12:6)

Oestradiol : 1479 (45.4-854)

With regards to the last 3 tests: I took these on day 9 out of my regular 26 day cycle. It therefore thinks im in follicular phase although my estrogen result is even out of range for ovulation phase. I am also Polycystic so wondered if this makes any difference. But possibly thinking of perimenopause too although again gp reluctant to do more tests and esp of pregesterone.

These look pretty good

Folate could be better

PCoS and Hashimoto’s often go together

You might consider getting ultrasound scan of thyroid

Thanks. Very interesting. I’ll definitely have a look at all this esp as my throat area does often feel “strange”. I’ve just been reading Lara Briden’s book The Hormone Repair Manual as have been wondering about menopause and it highlights that this is the time hashimotos can kick in. also became incredibly itchy (no rash) and gp has me on strong antihistamine.
