I'm not familiar with Trader Joe's supplements so I've Googled them.
Are you saying you have their combined calcium/zinc/magnesium supplement? Why do you think you need it?
Each serving (2 tablets) has 1000 mg calcium carbonate, 500 mg magnesium oxide, and 15 mg zinc oxide. That's an awful lot of calcium and the magnesium and zinc are the wrong forms. Magnesium oxide is used as an occasional treatment for constipation, it's not a very bioavailable form. Zinc oxide is the form used in nappy and sun creams, again there are better forms.
Did you know that we shouldn't supplement calcium unless tested and found to be deficient? Have you tested calcium?
Zinc is also best tested before supplementing. Zinc and copper should be balanced and we Hypos tend to have one high and the other low, so it's best to test to see which, if any, we need.
Also, calcium should not be taken at the same time as iron, zinc or magnesium which makes a mockery of these multi supplements.
What's your current Vit D level? You need that to work out what dose of D3 you need. Then you need D3's important cofactors - magnesium (usual amount is something like 350-450mg daily) and Vit K2-MK7. The magnesium helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form, and because taking D3 aids absorption of calcium from food (one reason why it may not be necessary to supplement calcium, your calcium level will probably rise if taking D3), and taking Vit K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissies where it can be deposited and cause problems like calcification of arteries, kidney stones, etc.
That is why I asked! New endo has allowed me to do T3 only but suggested Calcium
New endo has allowed me to do T3 only but suggested Calcium
But did he test calcium? If not why is he suggesting it?
Ah, so your new endo is under the false impression that taking T3 causes osteoporosis, and that calcium is all you need to countre-act that. I wonder if he also has a large cauldron and sacrifices goats! Sund out-moded ideas!
Taking the right amount of T3 does not cause osteroporosis - in fact, you'd have to take a hell of a lot of it to do that - and even if it did, calcium is neither a treatment nor a cure for osteoporosis, and can make things worse.
Personally, I wouldn't touch this awful supplement - nor your endo - with a barge-pole.
not diagnosed… yet.
Diagnosed with what? Surely if he is giving you T3 then you must have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism?
Sorry for the confusion.Calcium as a matter for women in general unrelated to T3. I have bone density tests every 2 yrs as allowed…. & on brink of osteopenia… so preventive & not uncommon. Just curious… as I have benefited from Vit B recommendations from you & others so knowledgeable
So no testing, no diagnosis of calcium deficiency. Then your endo shouldn't be suggesting that you take calcium.

A little light reading for you on the subjects of osteopenia and calcium.
