Hashimotos and sore throat
I did when I was under-medicated, yes.
Asil737,
Welcome to our forum.
During Hashi attacks the main symptoms can be an enlarged thyroid gland (depending on onset) , flu-like symptoms and a sore throat.
Hope you feel better soon.
I had a sore throat for about 10 years, but it cleared up when I started taking selenium. The only time i get it now is if I exercise x
My voice is hoarse and my throat a tiny bit sore. It only seemed to start when I changed to Metavive. Previously I took WP Thyroid and never had a hoarse voice and also my free T3 has increased. I recently started to have night sweats and have to sleep with the windows open to relieve the sweating. I went to see endocrinologist and she did blood test:
TSH. 0.02 (0.35 - 5.00) Low
Free Thyroxine. 11.2. (9.0 - 20.0)
Free T3 5.9. (2.5- 5.7). HIgh
SHe advised me to switch to Levothyroxine
I would be grateful for any advice.
The flu like symptoms only start when I go on the thyroid medicine. My eyes burn, sore throat and general achiness. I was on Nature throid for 6 weeks, stopped for a few days and I felt better. So they put me back on Levothyroxine and cytomel. But the symptoms are coming back now.
If it is truly only when you take the medication then make sure you swill it down with plenty (~8oz) of water. If you don't wash it away from your throat it will begin to get absorbed by your throat linings which is not where this medication is supposed to be processed. This can lead to erosion of your throat linings which is really bad news and not fixable.
