Help with Blood Results pls.

Hi you lovely people,

Once again, thank you all for the helpful responses to my last post. I was really overwhelmed by the help and support I received from you.

As a result of my melt-down on the phone to the GP surgery last Week, a GP called me . He was super helpful and arranged a whole battery of blood test which I will receive results of on Friday.

I was wondering if you could shed any light on my last set of results, from November 2021, when I first receive my diagnosis. This will help me to compare when I receive my recent ones. Although I was diagnosed last November, I am only six weeks into taking Levothyroxine (I hesitated).

Thank you so much everybody. I really appreciate your help.

HbA1c. 40. (20-42)

Serum TSH. 10. (0.57-3.60)

Serum free T4. 12.3. (7.90-14.00)

Total white cell count. 4.9. (4.00-10.00)

Red blood cell distribution width. 14.2. (11.6-14)

A few thoughts/questions:

HbA1c (glucose level, I think), seems unusually high for me - could it rise due to hypo?

Serum T4 - at the higher end of the normal range. Is this unusual for hypo?

A little concerned about the white blood cell count being at the very low end of normal and the red cell distribution width being just out of range . This one was flagged with a red exclamation mark by the lab but was addressed with me by the GP - I was just given a diagnosis and instructions to take Levo by a receptionist. In all fairness, though, GP will have expected me to take meds straight away, and planned another blood test six weeks later, so I’m not blaming them for that. Xmas was coming up, I was worried about side-effects of meds, and I honestly had a bit of a wobble about the diagnosis. Thank you all! I would appreciate your valuable insights xx

"Serum T4 - at the higher end of the normal range. Is this unusual for hypo? "No , not particularly

FT4: 12.3 ( 7.9 - 14) 72.13%

yes it looks 'fine' , but

....the TSH of 10 was saying "it's not enough for you".. or rather it was saying 'the combined fT4 and fT3 is not enough for you'

TSH is usually pretty reliable for diagnosis of primary hypothyroidism ( it's not so good for deciding dose ) .. if it's gone up to 10, it's done it for a reason . so as long as they repeated it to make sure it wasn't just a passing fancy .. and if you had symptoms of hypothyroidism, then you needed levo regardless of what fT4 was saying.

(and of course we don' t know what fT3 was)

Don't know anything about the other ones ....
