When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels last tested

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

GP should test vitamin levels if not been done

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription …if yes which brand

If no, work out which suits you best and always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Your Ft3 is very low

First step is to get all four vitamins tested and improved to optimal …this frequently improves conversion levels

but may need addition of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine if Ft3 doesn’t improve when vitamins are at good levels

Email Thyroid U.K. for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologist and doctors who will prescribe T3

Hi SlowDragon, viits last tested 14/03/2022Ferritin 56 (14-186)

B12 2000 (223-1132) have stopped vit 12 supplements

D 67 (50-125). I am taking vit d Vegavero one a day and thorne basic b one a day. I am on 100mcg accord tabs and 12mcg Mercury phama. Is high t4 bad as I am getting worried? I have been on a lower carb diet would that affect conversion not having a thyroid?

Ferritin 56 (14-186)

B12 2000 (223-1132) have stopped vit 12 supplements

D 67 (50-125).

I am taking vit d Vegavero one a day and thorne basic b one a day.

Ferritin needs improving, look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet

No folate result?

Remember to stop taking vitamin B complex a week before all tests

In week before blood test you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement and separate B12

Vitamin D needs improving to at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7. One spray = 1000iu

Are you taking any magnesium supplements?

Web links about taking important cofactors - magnesium and Vit K2-MK7

Magnesium best taken in the afternoon or evening, but must be four hours away from levothyroxine

Very low carb can reduce conversion of Ft4 to Ft3

Retest again in 6-8 weeks

If ft3 remains low you need to see thyroid specialist endocrinologist for T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

Email Thyroid U.K. for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologist and doctors who will prescribe T3

assuming you most recent results are these ? ( dates on post are a bit confusing ,with what you wrote about TSH going up )

TSH 2

fT4 22.6 [12-22]

fT3 3.3

22.6 [12-22] isn't much over range , 26-28 ish would be 'high' .... but i wouldn't increase dose at the moment .

you TSH certainly isn't saying it's too much Levo at the moment ..

It has already fallen a little bit from 2.8 to to 2 .... But it's possible your TSH might be a bit sluggish / slow to move.~ mine sat stubbornly around 2.5 ish for about a year on 50 /100 /150mcg. then fell a lot lower several months later .

Do you feel any improvements yet on 112.5mcg ? .... that too can take time, i found the first 5/6 weeks after a dose change are not a true representation of how i will feel after a few more months . Some thing improve imperceptibly .

So given the fT4 level, i'd probably stick at 112.5mcg for a few more months and see how it feels .

Hello, thank you for your reply, sorry if I confused you. Yes those are my most recent results. I should have said tsh has gone down slightly sorry. I do feel a little improvement I think? I was thinking best to stay on the 112mcg for a while also try to improve on my vitamin numbers.

Good plan i agree ..... if even a hint of improvement is felt , then i reckon it's wise to leave levo dose as it is for a few months to allow some stability and allow those improvements to hopefully continue . and work on getting other things as good as can be while you wait .
