Hello, I would like to try a combo of levo &ndt insted levo &T3. Now I take 125mcg levo +5T3 in the morning and another 5T3 in the afternoon and 5T3 at bedtime.
I'm thinking of lowering the levo to 100mcg and replacing the rest with ndt (or levo&ndt in the morning+T3 in the afternoon) but I don't know-how. I don't have a thyroid due to RAI. I have tried only ndt in the past but I have had some intolerable side effects(fast pulse, weight gain, anxiety, heating perspiration, etc), So I thought about a mix.
However, on ndt I felt much more human than on t3 so i'd like to try. I have some thai-ndt.

Hi , we are all different. That's the first thing to say.I have no thyroid gland due to RAI too.
I'm on 25mcg T4 & 1.25grain ndt from Thailand . With ndt the rule is to go slow. Increase by quarter of a grain, wait 2 weeks then Increase again, hopefully you will get to a point where you feel well.
Having said that, some say that adding t4 to ndt is not a good idea, as it creates reverse t3. To date I don't think there is consensus on if this is correct. I don't think anyone really knows.
My feeling is that we are human not pigs, so I've tried to get a more 'human' dose.
Hipolion Does your ndt have a declared hormone content? If you can find out how much t4 and t3 in a grain then just use that info to give you an equivalent dose.
I'm currently on 12.5 mcg of t4(synthroid) and 1 grain of Erfa. I take 30mg of Erfa30 plus the 12.5 in the morning and at 10pm I take 30mg of Erfa. To give you an idea, I started out with 75mcg of Synthroid(t4). As I slowly increased my erfa, I reduced my t4. I have to go slow because I deal with tachycardia at night caused by my sleep apnea. Also have had trouble with synthetic t3 in the past as well. I couldn't tolerate anything above 5 mcg of cytomel
Hi It's difficult one sizes doesn't fit all. I have no thyroid and take 2.25 grains of Thyroid s every day in two lots. I am female and not overweight. I feel well and my blood test results are perfect to. It did take sometime before I got the right dosage. If you have no thyroid and are a male you perhaps need more, gradually increasing by 1/4 grain at a time. When I took 2.5 per day it was too much. Now on 2.25 it's perfect. NDT is from pigs which have a 4:1 ratio and humans are 10:1 so not the same. I think that adding more Levo to NDT is a mistake but it's only my opinion.
HI, your answer is interesting to me. As far as I know, Thai-thyroid is no longer manufactured, what luck that you still have stock. I used Thyroid, it was good for me but I had some problems because my ft4 fell below (to the lower lab.limit). I gained weight, my wrists ached, etc but I had more energy, my mind was clear.... Porcine thyroid ratio is not good for me, I feel like I need an addition of t4.
The NDT Thyroid S was only difficult to purchase during the start of covid. I bought it last year I always use the same supplier. Perhaps when you used NDT to took to much to soon.It takes a while to sort out. Did your FT3 test look over the range? How much were you taking?
You ratio now on Levo to T3 is 8.33:1. I think that it should be nearer to 10:1 so adding a little more Levo may work for you.
Hi, I was on 3,5 gr of thiroyd - s but was to much for me so I reduced to 2,5 and some levo. Now I taking tirosint and slow release T3 from a german compounded Pharma.
