TSH is 0.05 out of 0.30 and 5.00

The Dr was saying I am borderline and that something else is going on. Shes asked the local Hospital to book me in for all sorts of tests. She says I look really unwell. What do you guys reckon to these readings. Sorry one is a photo and the other is typed. Ive not got a digital copy. Just a printout

Just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Was test done early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

ESSENTIAL to test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 together, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Many thyroid patients can’t tolerate high Ft4

Your Ft3 may be low (poor conversion of Ft4 to ft3) especially if vitamin levels are low

Request/insist GP test vitamin levels

You are unlikely to get TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 tested together on NHS

Medichecks Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins by DIY fingerprick test

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off down to £26.10 if go on thyroid uk for code

Ideally Do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning, or Wednesday if have to.

Borderline what?

Is your GP thinking borderline hypERthyroid? Well you can't be, you have a diagnosis of hypOthyroidism and on Levo so your thyroid can't suddenly start over producing thyroid hormone.

You may possibly be overmedicated (which is very different from hypERthyroidism) but you wont know that unless FT3 is also tested.

Also, you have to take into account when you took your last dose of Levo. If you took it before your test you will have a false high FT4 result, we have to leave 24 hours between last dose of Levo and blood draw.

Do you have any symptoms?

Yes unbalanced feeling. Didn't take levo before test either

I don't know what "unbalanced feeling" is supposed to mean I'm afraid. I would get full thyroid testing to include FT3, that's the only way you'll know if you're overmedicated.

Dizziness feeling unbalanced

Could be Low Ft3…..or low B12/folate

Low B vitamins can result in feeling like walking on rocking boat….or walking into doorways etc ..l

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

On levothyroxine it’s essential we have OPTIMAL vitamin levels

NHS rarely tests

You need to test annually, privately if they won’t

Very common to need to supplement

Always test before starting any vitamins

Dizziness/lack of balance sounds like low T3 to me - I'm not on T3 but when I'm not taking enough Levothyroxine I get dizziness/poor balance. Especially when I get up out of bed - I have to hold on to the furniture/walls to stay upright!
