Some advice please as my levels have been consistently low but a Consultant actually tolf me they were at optimum range when actually free t4 and free t3 were the bottom end of normal, now the t3 is out of range and my symtoms are worsening. Another said go private and finally got one that increased the levothyroxine by 25 every other day. So now take 150/175 alternate and 20 of liothyronine every day.
Have continual pain in arms and feet and struggle to stand sometimes after a period in bed, falling asleep come evening as well as usual hair loss puffy hands, general sluggishness, weight gain. Also have muffled hearing in one ear and can't exercise to the level I previously did.
My levels currently are ferritin 6, range 12-232 struggle to take the ferrous sulphate
vit d 66, taking 300 a day of this.
TSH .68, range 0.2-4.2
Free t3 2.8, range 3.1-6.8
Free t4, range 12.8, 12-232
Also take HRT at a low dose of 25,oestrogen and progesterone for 9 days a month. I dont eat gluten, due to stomach pain and cramping and bloating when I do.
I know these are not optimum and I know I feel well when the t4 and t3 are higher but getting Doctors to understand seems impossible. Awaiting a call in the next week to discuss.
Thank you

Do you take this as far away as possible from your thyroid meds? It's often the case when taking HRT that thyroid meds need to be increased.
Obviously your FT4 and FT3 levels are too low, so either something is affecting absorption or you need to increase both. One would expect to see higher levels with the doses you are taking.

Did your GP do an iron panel to confirm iron deficiency and a full blood count to see if you have anaemia. How much ferrous sulphate do you take? Do you take it 4 hours away from your thyroid meds?
If ferrous sulphate doesn't suit discuss with your GP to find an alternative.

Presumably this is 66nmol/L.
Can you clarify exactly how much D3 you take? 300mcg (which would be 12,000iu)or 300iu (which is less than a child's dose) or do you mean 3,000iu?
In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency
Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet
Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption
This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.
