Change of T4/T3 dosage?

Hello,

I would like to hear your opinion on my latest blood test results.

TSH 0.01 ( 0.27-4.2)

FT3 7.5 ( 3.1 - 6.8)

FT4 14.8 (12.0 - 22.0)

I am on 75mg T4 and 30mg T3 ( 20 morning and 10 afternoon).

I did the test in the morning, fasting, and took the last dose of T3 about 10h before the test.

My endo said that it would be sensible to slowly lower the T3 to arrive at 10 + 10 or 15 + 5.

Not sure what to do though...

Thank you! :-)

It's recommended to only change T3 dose 5mcg at a time. I would try 25mcg T3 and retest in 6-8 weeks.

Thank you SeasideSusie, wise advice...

After next 6 week test having reduced the T3 by 5mcg …you might consider small increases in levothyroxine

See what results are like first

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

Hi SlowDragon, thank you, yes I thought about increasing levo a little bit.

About a year ago I had these results:

Vitamin B12 735 pg/ml 197 - 771

Folate (serum) 9.6 ug/L > 2.9

FERRITIN 51 ug/ L 13 - 150

25 OH Vitamin D 86 nmol/ L 50 - 200

Hi Clara62!How do you feel on those doses? Do you feel OK or do you have any symptoms associated with being somewhat hyperthyroid?

I never take more than 5 or 10mcg of T3 at once, I would honestly be worried about getting heart palpitations or symptoms of high adrenaline if I took more.

Hi Anglobike, actually I didn't have symptoms of high adrenaline with this dosage, coffee instead gives me that symptom. I can only have a little coffee in the morning. One thing I noticed though it's the thinning of hair, not sure it is due to too much T3. I know that many people prefer small dosages throughout the day. Could be a better option...

I am sorry that you don't do well with coffee, that is a pain, it's such good stuff!

Thinning hair can be caused by so many things, I am wondering if you might be a bit deficient in other vitamins or nutrients? If you are revving up your metabolism with T3, that means you get through your stores of vitamins and minerals more quickly and you may have developed a deficiency in something in the meantime, for example, vitamin A (retinol, not beta-carotene). I am new to the site, so I hope I am not doing this wrong, by the way.

Is there a private-messaging function on here anywhere? I could send you a link to a video about nutrition for hair health.
