Firstly thank you so much to everyone’s help & advice on my last post. After a 7 year struggle I feel I am finally getting somewhere. I managed to get prescribed T3 & have been taking it for about 5 weeks now (15 mocrogram / day - quarter of a pill at 9 am, then 3pm, then 9pm) alongside 100 levo taken at 9pm. My blood pressure is by far the best it’s been in7 years & is within the normal range!!
I have just had a thyroid function test done & my endocrinologist is happy with the results. But after 7 years of bad advice (not from him) I am wary to trust doctors opinions, although all looks ok to me too. I am still struggling with fatigue, although less so, & daily headaches, but also having an endometriosis flare up, so hard to tell if that may be causing some symptoms. Anyway…
I wondered what anyone on here thought of these results:
TSH - 0.05 mU/L (0.27 - 4.20)
T4 - 14.2 pmol/L (12.0 - 22.0)
T3 - 4.3 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)
Thank you all again! X

Was test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
Eg
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
T3
Last 5mcg dose T3 approx 8-12 hours before test
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
Please add ranges on these results
Plus add most recent vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 results
Many people find that they need to increase levothyroxine back up a little, especially if start being more active and doing more …..but it’s too soon yet
Thank you thank you!! I did think that they looked a little low, & I am slowly learning how to interpret results. I will stick with & do another test in another 6-8 weeks & go from there. Thank you again for your help!! X
Thank you. I think I will, or maybe I’ll pop it on my Christmas list. :)I feel it’s worth is as I feel I’m finally getting somewhere. So the more I can understand, the more I can help myself ☺️ X
Well done for getting the liothyronine T3 added to your daily medications! I’m so pleased for you that you are going in the right direction. I too was finally prescribed T3 after years struggling on Levothyroxine. I’m a poor converter and had a positive DIO2 gene test too. I’m guessing you must be a poor converter also. I take 15mcg T3 like yourself spread out throughout the day and my Levothyroxine dose of 75mcg.
After a short while I started to get some energy back. With getting that energy back I could do so much more with my life that ground to a halt prior. I’m now 2 years in on T3 and my life is much better than I can think back on in many years. I’m now full of energy and vigor. I actually feel youthful and I’m 63. I tell my partner now that I’m getting younger by the day! I feel I am.
Keep going. Don’t look back. Keep those vitamins in check also as they really do help too.
I’m very pleased for you that your road to recovery has begun. 👍
