Do you have kitchen scales that weigh in grams? If so then weigh the powder instead, you will be able to fine tune the exact amount you need without flipping over into diarrhoea, then you can make sure you always take the right amount. Using a spoon is very hit and miss.

What does the bottle say? When I had some they were K2-MK7 drops they were in oil, you just pop them on or under your tongue.

Will try the spoon for measuring, don’t have a kitchen scale!

Do you have a set of kitchen spoons that go down to half a teaspoon, quarter of a teaspoon, etc? If so then make sure you scrape and flatten the powder off to get the exact measurement. I really can't see how you can accurately get the right amount each time with a spoon. The smallest amount extra can tip you from comfortable stool to diarrhoea. Digital kitchen scales with graduations of 1 gram can be obtained pretty cheaply here in the UK, I've seen some as low as £4 - £5.

Do u take magnesium citrate daily? I have lot of gas since I started taking this. Are there side effects taking this on a long term basis?

Yes I take it daily at a dose which produces a daily BM without diarrhoea. I have been taking it for quite a long time now and I don't know of any side effects when taken long term; however, you would need to look into that yourself rather than take my word for it, it may be different for other people.

Hi Suzi, I find it easiest to take my vitamin D/K2 drops by holding the bottle over a spoon while I count the drops, usually with a meal, then swallow. My daughter holds her head back and drips straight into her mouth, but that wouldn't work for me.

I like the idea of a spoon. I tried the mouth and small glass, didn’t work I don’t have kitchen scales to measure Magnesium powder, I do have a spoon with markings, that’s used for baking.

Thanks

Your baking spoon for the magnesium powder sounds good and can be reasonably accurate if you level the top.

Magnesium is a muscle relaxant and, often, it hits the gut muscles and causes “digestive disorder”. I found it better to take a couple of small doses, well spaced, than one larger one!

Hi Suzi,

I've just googled it; common side effects of Magnesium Citrate include:

abdominal cramping.

diarrhea.

gas (flatulence)

nausea.

vomiting..

So you've possibly just been taking too much of it. SeasideSusi and GlosterGirl offer good advice regarding how they take it.
