Can someone look at my results please

I’m a 46 old female who has not felt well for many years. I was diagnosed with b12 defiency 2 years ago and use injections for this. But I’am still very exhausted, having anxiety and feeling depressed. Have had an ultrasound of thyroidea a couple of years ago, had some nodules but biopsy showed nothing serious. My mother got cancer in thyroidea and has removed this. This results were taken 11.30 fasting. I’m not on thyroid medications.

In the UK Primary Hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH goes over 10, or when TSH is over range with a below range FT4. Not sure how it works in your country.

Your TSH would have been higher if you had done your test no later than 9am.

With your FT4 that low it would be worth repeating your test in a couple of months but make sure that you do it no later than 9am.

S-ferritin: 46

What is the unit of measurement for this and what is the reference range?

Here in the UK a ferritin level below 30ug/L is considered to be iron deficiency.

It would be worth getting an iron panel (serum iron, transferrin saturation %, Total Iron Binding Capacity and ferritin all tested at the same time), this would show iron deficiency, plus a full blood count to see if you have anaemia.

Folate is fine.

B12 is taken care of.

Vit D is that 82nmol/L or ng/L?

Cholesterol is probably high due to your probable hypothyroidism. Anxiety and depression are also symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Thank you! Reference range ferritin: 46 microGram/L(10-170) D-vit: 82nmol/L ( 50-150). My FT4, TSH and FT3 have been in the low range for years. Antibodies were negative a couple of years ago. Could it be Central hypothyroidism?

Thanks for your reply!

It could be central hypothyroidism but not sure if for that diagnosis they'd want FT4 below range.

So ferritin is low in range, recommended is half way through range although some experts say the optimal ferritin level for thyroid function is 90-110ug/L. It might be worth asking for those extra tests, otherwise eat iron rich foods such as liver, liver pate, etc.

Vit D isn't too bad although the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health recommend a level of 100-125nmol/L with a recent blog post on Grassroots Health mentioning a study which recommends over 125nmol/L.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, my FT4and FT3 have been in the low range for years and I’m not feeling well.
