Hashimotos (armour NDT 2.25 Grains per day puts me at 0.9 TSH(0.27 -4.2) and 5.2 T3 (3.1-6.8) but Ive still had very poor mental health, anxiety, depression, mood swings, fatigue, confusion as well as a huge uplift in migraine.
Recently NHS bloods came back with
B12 356 pg/ml (191-663)
Serum Folate 3.3ug/l (4.5-32.2)
They wouldn't test Vit D
I have been asked to do a MTHFR test by Country Health
But is very expensive and so I was looking at alternatives.
My thinking is that the low folate and lowish B12 could be screwing everything up and my understanding is the MTHFR would just confirm if there is an issue, am I right.
The GP called today to prescribe folate but im wondering whether a specific product as well as B12 and Vit D supplementation maybe more suitable for my condition and whether addressing these nullifies the test for MTHFR so hence the advise required please.
Thank you
Jamie

Mutated MTHFR can cause a while load of problems beyond folate & VitB12, effecting hormones & neurotransmitters serotonin/dopamine (just investigating again coz of my RLS).
But I think if you don’t want the MTHFR test then just supplementing the methylated forms would suffice. It’s just easier to prevent issues such as elevated homocysteine, or a build up of oestrogens, and easier to deal with them if you know you have impaired MTHFR.
Ensure to get the L-forms, ie L-methylfolate, L-methyltetrahydrofolate, L-MTHF, L-methylfolate calcium, etc
Hi again and thank you for the advice. I’ve joined the other groups and I’ve ordered all my vitamins and supplements, I’m now looking at the juggle act of when to take them so they do not interact with the Armour NDT or each other, can anyone advise please?I’m split dosing my Armour at 6:30am and 12:00pm
My supplements and vitamins are:
Folic acid 5mgs (prescribed as under)
Vit D 3000 spray and K2 tablets
B12
magnesium
Selenium
My thoughts are to take the armour first dose at 6:30am.
Breakfast at 9:00am with Vit D, Folic Acid, Selenium and B12.
