Folate below range, low B12, second Covid vaccine on Monday

Hi

Yesterday I received a call to say to go for my second Covid vaccine on Monday.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about my Medichecks results and as my folate is under range and low Active B12.

I rang my doctor and was told to take a copy of my results in. I did this last week and have not heard anything.

I rang them this morning to say I had not heard from them and was told for some reason my results had not been entered on their system. They have just rang me back to say they have now found my paper copies so will enter them onto the system for a doctor to look at next week.

I told the receptionist about having my second vaccine on Monday and ask if it would be O.K. to have it with my levels been low but of course she said it would fine.

Can anyone advise what I should do, would my low levels cause any concern regarding having the second dose.

Nobody here is medically qualified to answer, and even those who are may not be able to answer your question as the Covid vaccination is so new and things are being learned about it all the time. I would take guidance from the medical profession on this.

My VitD is 40 and Folate 2.3, thyroid levels similar to yours. I had my 2nd vac with no problems.

Many thanks, that is reassuring to know.

Did your doctor prescribe any supplements or did you purchase your own ?

I have started Vit D spray again, but was not sure what to do about the folate as with my B12 been on the low side I wonder if I needed more investigation.

I can't tolerate supplements, VitD definitely a no no and I tried Folate but gave me cracking headaches so Im not taking anything other than Better You multi vit spray now and again.

Have you tried Methylfolate as this seems to be the better type to take.

Yes that's the one I had but didn't agree with me at all.
